What size circle hooks do you guys find works best for walleye? I heard you have to go to a bigger size to avoid plugging up the gap with bait. I plan to use them with crawlers and minows. I'm also curious what is the best way to hook your bait on them, I usualy hook minnows in a texas rigged fashion, keeps them on the hook and gives them some action, but I'm guessing this might not work that well with circle hooks.

When I've used circle hooks for halibut we just loaded the shaft with bait and left the gap clear. You plan on jigging or bottom bouncing?

Just soaking them or drifting for the most part, slowly working the bottom.

I wouldn't see a problem with just loading your bait onto the hook and letting it go. Bait knots are doable on circle hooks so that might be another option, can be a little frustrating to tie though and your bait will kind of curl around the hook instead of staying inline.
