I shoot a 65lb Hoyt Rampage with a 29" draw. I have been using Cabelas arrows rated at 55 to 70 lbs and they seem to be fine. However, I was thinking of trying out some of the 65 to 80 lb spined arrows.

Should I shoot the lighter or heavier spined arrows. What are the pros and cons ?

BTW these will be hunting arrows.

Thanks for all the help

Check out an online arrow spine chart. Just type "arrow spine chart" into your search engine and a few options should come up. Your arrow spine will be based on the manufacturers rating AND the length you cut your arrows. Cut your arrows shorter and the overall spine increases (less flex). Also the tip weight and add ons to the back of an arrow will also effect spine. The "spine charts" are usually reflecting a 100 grain point weight. but I think there are also charts for 125 grain tip weights. If you are going to error to a side of caution I would go with a slightly over-spined arrow as opposed to a under-spined arrow.

X2 ..The arrows your shooting now are perfectactly fine for your set up ..
the heavier spine arrow will have better penertration, quite down the bow more, and may be easier to tune your bow...only con is usually minimum speed...

I shot the carbon express blue streak's 350s at around 66lbs, the work very well. so do the vap's those are awesome arrows, just not sure I would use the for hunting because of the heavy outsert you need to use
