Taking my son out fishing tomorrow for his first time. We will be fishing from a boat. Has anyone been to Spray or the Upper or Lower K lately? Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated. We are open to other possibilities but don't know the Calgary area very well as I am from up north. Thanks for any help you can give.

Im very very biased so im going to say upper and lower k because Ive probably caught over 100 fish there already this year lol
That said, Spray is best for deep trolling for lakers from my understanding. There's less facilities and its a decently long dirt road to get to it. Upper and lower K on the other hand have fantastic cut throat and bull trout action but with no bait (not sure about spray on the bait..I think you can) that and you should have no problem finding a washroom and theres a store nearby.

You can get plenty of action from the shore or close to the shore at both the upper and lower K.

What kind of gear will you be chucking?

Either will work. I have a flies and he has spinners but we also have jigs and could get smelts.

I heard that the water is still too low to use the boat launch on the upper. Anyone had a look at the lower lake lately - is the launch usable?

launch was unusable a week ago and i would not think it would be any better yet.

I am thinking about heading up to Upper and Lower K this weekend with the fly rod. What flies have been working for you guys?

Put the boat in on Lower last Thursday - no problems at all. The launch on the Upper was usable for smaller boats. but will be better in a few days.

I thought about heading to the lower k with a boat this weekend, but I wasn't sure on being able to launch it seeing how it's so low still. Glad to hear it worked out for you. How did you do fishing?

Fishing was slow. Just 3 bulls in 2 days.

Fishing was very good for yesterday quite a few in a few hours, mostly from 22 to 25 inch
