Well I've finally got around to airbrushing the 500 blank "rapalas"
I bought a couple years back. First few are pretty bad but I've got abou 50 now that are fishing worthy. Unfortunately i broke my iPhone and I can't upload pictures from this one but I will get some up tonight.
Let's see your home made- hand painted- custom
Lures!

Ps- If anyone here knows much about airbrushing I need some help with reducing paint!

Here are some of my ,Topwater lures.I made em from scratch on the lathe, couple are airbrush attempts but mostly I have better luck with the paintbrush. I have caught fish on most of them I include a pike I caught this week at Cross lake on one

Those are really cool! I tie flies and it's a great feeling when you catch something that you made. Do you get blank lures online?

Mine were made on a makeshift lathe as well, the spinners and spinner baits were hand poured I believe, we had a centrifuge lead mold made in the States and shipped up.

Did you have to play with these to get the right action? Were you able to replicate them or did you have to tune each individually? Very nice by the way!!!

I got lucky really ,they seemed to be fine with minimal tweaking . Mind you the main criteria for most of them was to splash a lot while being retrieved.:)

I did make a beautiful looking rappalla style swimming lure that had about as much action as a cork though hehe

Impressive to say the least.
Maybe you should start a thread called "from the lathe" :)

Cool lures guys! I watched a guy on the Michigan out of doors TV show a few years ago, who put a piece of "fishnet" stocking fabric over the lure then spray painted a contrasting color over it to give the illusion of scales. Of course he made it look easier than it really is.

Im thinking of trying to shrink this down for a spoon.
