Was curious what goals everyone has set for this summers fishing season, mine is to finally hike up to all stones lake and going to be heading to slave lake quite a bit come augest, and would not mind landed a 42 inch chunky pike as well.

My goal now is to toss my boat on the Bow and do a float by August long weekend, don't even care if we hook up!!! On a side note my buddy's 14 year old daughter caught an 18" Brown off there back porch in Bowness with a funky looking spinner...apparently it was released unharmed to wander around the neighborhood at will...hmm life will find a way!!!

-break my pb sturgeon (67"length x 30")
-land first bull trout on the fly
-10# + walleye

Those would be my top 3 in order.
Would love to knock remaining Alberta species off bucket list but likely have to wait for another year. Those being Grayling, golden trout, whitefish(mountain), and Lake trout. Hmm after reading that list to myself, looks like a trip up north is in the cards:)

The hike to allstones isnt too bad just that its uphill the whole way. Fishing up there last year was good only one other guy up there all day, and that was on a long weekend. My goal this year is to finally catch a brown on my fly rod.

Catch a large pike at wabamun lake, largest is around 15 pounds that we have had in the boat but that's still half the size of what people are flaming they have caught this summer.

Wouldn't mind dragging out my fly gear and learning to use it for pike also.

a better than 60 inch sturgeon, and more unrealisticly catch a 100 pounder, tag 150, and a 36 inch walleye. maybe beat my pike next winter. Or just fish a lot, that I can achieve :sHa_shakeshout:
FF I can get you that eye this fall.

40 pound + salmon for myself
Run 200 people through the Lodge
Catch a Salmon on my "new" 1975 wooden peetz reel.
Have guests set new Lodge record for Salmon. I don't think 60# is going to be impossible.

Beat all my personal bests in Alberta: 17+ Pike, 27+ Laker, 9+ Walleye.
Hopefully have the chance to catch my first salmon, halibut, and all the other fun stuff out there on the coast as I have never been.
Most of all have fun with friends and family on the water.
This will be a cool thread to look back on in the fall

My 2013 fishing goals were to catch the last two fish off of my bucket list in Alberta and they are Grayling and Golden Trout. Grayling is done and now I only have golden trout left. Then I have caught all AB sportfish species. Of the non sport species I have caught carp, 3 kinds of sucker, and chubb and that pretty much covers the non sport fish I wanted to catch.

Catch anything on the fly besides a pike or a rainbow! Most likely in the north sask or red deer river if they ever decide to come down

It is the only one I haven't caught but since they are so rare and impossible to individually target, they are not on the bucket list.

If your line snaps when the fish is at the boat are you going to do the honorable thing and jump in after it with a knife?

My fishing goals: I'd like to catch a sturgeon, any kind of trout and a walleye. Last year all I caught was a couple of pike but so far this year I've added suckers, chubs and goldeye to the list. People can mock my skills but I'm proud of my accomplishments. :)

I thought I would add some ocean fishing accomplishments that I want to achieve. I want to catch a rockfish from a kayak next month on my Vancouver Island trip. I also want to catch a halibut and an octopus.

as others with young families can relate....get out fishing whenever time allows and have some fresh fried walleye a few times with family on the deck.

thats enough for this guy....for now....once i kick the kids outta the house things may change lol

Thank you for letting me share those first fish species with you, its always a pleasure fishing with someone who gets so excited about fish that us old jaded people are used to catching. I hope I have the pleasure of introducing you to your first sturgeon this season, and if you save me a day this fall I will get you a walleye so big 95% of this forum will only be able to dream about!

Goals have changed for me to honing stillwater fly fishing techniques for trout. I've already come to terms with having basically no stream fishing in southern alberta this year due to floods

Need to add the following to my resume

-Burbot
-Sturgeon
-Goldeye
-Whitefish

Question is where should I go?

- finish some carpentry projects for family members (its great cause I get to spend some quality time with them as well)
- have two more fish to finish up for taxidermy
- continue to go into the recording studio to write and lay tracks for album number 4, great fun to pass the time in an evening.
- after above is accomplished get out on the lakes, rivers to catch some fishes and get some good pics
- find myself a good woman that loves fishing to join me on many fishing adventures
- start scouting an area I have permission to hunt this fall and place up a game camera or two
