View Full Version : Bowtec strings coming off cams?

I have heard a few reports/rumors/hear say that the strings on Bowtec bows can come off when letting off after a full draw.

Has anyone experienced this or know of this happening?
What type of frequency is this occurring?
Was the bow old or new?

Would hate to have this happen while out hunting, should I invest in a portable bow press?

Regards
Phil

It's caused by twisting your hand when letting down. Most of the time its because someone inexperienced was doing it. Usually happens when there's not an arrow involved, from what I've seen.

I have heard that the early Destroyers had trouble until they went to the deep groove cams. It seems like the string wasn't sitting in the groove deep enough and they were getting derails after the shot. I think late 2010 they changed over. I had a 2010 model (Oct made) and it had the deep groove cams already. Haven't heard anything since then.

I hope it's not a bowtech problem, I'm getting a bowtech next month :sHa_shakeshout:

Operator error more likely than a bow issue.

Your assassin is a great bow. You won't have any issues like that.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I was questioning these reports. Looking at my 2013 Insanity CPX was wondering how this could happen as the string sits in some very generous grooves in the cams.

The rumors still persist.

Yup - don't torque the bow side to side while letting down and you won't have a problem.

:D ..Torquing the bow can happen with most brands on draw and let down... had one shooter recently on draw..totaled both cams...
