Anybody tried using WD-40 as an attractant? I've heard it works but have yet to try it.

Its a old trick that does work, but you have to use american wd40, the can. and U.S are different, we use it for lake trout fishing back home.

Although it may work, so does dynamite. Both are good things to keep out of our waterways.. There are plenty of Glucose and flavored attractants available which are much more enviromentally friendly. We all pollute, boatmotors,4x4 w V8's etc I'v got at least two of each. But we can still try.

i was told that the american version of wd40 is made with a type of fish oil, and the canadian stuff is all synthetic.

As per the email that I sent to Sustainable Resourses, here is the reply


This product is a petroleum based compound and as such would be viewed as a pollutant. Its use as an attractant would be considered to be illegal for reasons that pursuant to Section 36.(3) of the Canadian Fisheries Act,


(3) Subject to subsection (4), no person shall deposit or permit the deposit of a deleterious substance of any type in water frequented by fish or in any place under any conditions where the deleterious substance or any other deleterious substance that results from the deposit of the deleterious substance may enter any such water.




For more information on this or any other fish and wildlife related question, please contact your local Fish and Wildlife District office. For office contact information assistance dial 310-0000 in Alberta.


If you are aware of a fish or wildlife resource related violation, we encourage you to report such incidents to the nearest Fish and Wildlife district office or the 24 hour Report a Poacher line at 1-800-642-3800. Callers to the RAP line can remain anonymous. If the information provided concerns a resource violation and results in the laying of a charge, the reporter may be eligible for a reward.

WD 40 is just KEROSENE with an addative to change the smell:wave: Hold a lited match in front of the nozzel and press the button.:scared::rolleyes: DANGER:scared:

Alberto V05 hairsprays works better..well it does in my patato gun..:D:lol:
