Incredible perch you have there, :eek good to see that you can still find em that big...

What you cant see is that the tail is cut off in the picture and he is pulling down on the fish with his other hands to make that weight higher...
Just joking, great looking fish!

Hmmm...heaviest 10-inch perch I've ever seen. Think someone is pulling our leg...or the perch's tail. Interesting how both fish have identical markings too...LOL....Good One!!!:rollin :rollin :rollin

they do have the same markings!! Geez the record is 2.969, and from 82, if that pothole has one that big would be more there. You better get the new record for perch if you are only a few ozs off with that one.

Yup those are two of the most identicle Perch in the world,,, that should be the record,,, carefull you almost pulled the head off....:lol :lol :lol

03-20-2007, 11:41 PM
This walleye needs to be weighed by you proffesional picture weighers Ill give you a hint, 34.5inches long his eye was as big as a loonie and last hint I am also holding the tail of this one too!http://lol lkohttp://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g110/walleyeca/Trevspics037.jpg

that's a nice walleye but nowhere near 34.5. If it was that big would you have had to hold it all the way out there? People would respect the truth alot more and a 28 inch (MAXIMUM no ways it's bigger) walleye is nothing to sneeze at.

Walleye
03-21-2007, 12:14 AM
Nice Walleye!!!! I would have to guess 13 to 14 lbs

Record Perch!
03-21-2007, 12:22 AM
Hello kelly and beth actually the record perch is 2lbs 15oz just shy of 3lbs my perch is a bit off that mark and ive actually saw a few as big if not bigger caught at this lake by an old ukrainian guy he uses bacon as bait(unreal) and he catches these hawgs funny hey I remeber using bacon as a kid! I sure hope Utikima doesnt winter kill to bad this year as that is the lake the next record will come from is my guess!take care happy fishin!

Norm care to tell me where u fish cuz that is a nice eye and if u know of a lake where that is the average id like to fish there! It's very difficult to tell length by picture especially when it is being held so much closer to the cam but a very nice eye in my books.
As for the perch, note the white dot near the dorsal. Nice fish though.
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w90/FisherPotch/2.jpg
This is a 28 inch eye. It looks like a minnow compaired to the eye walleyeca posted, but note how much closer to myself i'm holding the fish.

Ya, nearly impossible to tell the length or weight of a fish by a photo unless there is something to bring it into perspective. The perch was easy as I have the same scale and it is 8" long. The walleye is indeed a tough one as is this fish...it's a monster but how big????

It is very hard to tell. i look at objects that are compairable in distance such as the fingers. Id guess between 27 and 29. I had a very good chat with this particular guide this weekend at the show. Also saw your pic in one of his photo albums sheep. Was this taken on the athabasca? How far off is my guess?

Good guesses both of you....it was right at 30" and a bit over 10 pounds. Yes is was on the Athabasca last October. What an awesome fishery and Ray is a great guy to fish with.
Okay how about this monster that 209 caught a couple weeks ago on Calling?

Lol. Are u sure thats the same fish sheep. :rollin . What an easy way to make fish look huge!!
Good guess FiveO. Im not sure of the mass cause i had to release the fish and i don't want to hurt 'em. But believe it or not that was my longest eye to date just short of 30 inches.
Easy cam were just having some fun trying to judge length in photos, its actually pretty tough.

Its all in fun I dont know why some people are so uptight. Perhaps there old ladies figured out what they thought to be 2'' is really only 1'' and were being fed a fish story all along..:rollin :lol

Thanks alot sheep. Catching that particular fish was a big moment for me.
Hey walleyeca did you know that cloning is illegal! lol. jokes. Nice perch and wally man but i too felt that the similarities between the fish are too much. sry. Note the white dot by the dorsal, let alone the matching strippes to boot.
Is it possible that fish can produce identical twins? does anybody know? Just a question.

Hey Walleyeca Nice fish !
I was going to pm you but you are not regestered !!!
I fish wabasca every year and wanted to try those pot hole lakes also as I have worked in that wabasca oil field for the past 20 years
there are to close pot hole by wab. one is north west of the lake and flows into wab.
and the other one I notice alot is on the east side of Wabasca ,you can get to it on that by the oil field road ,mostly it is used by the oil companies for getting water.
that lake is like 300 feet from main road.have you ever fished that lake .I always wanted to try it but need a 12- 14 boat to fish it .Had no luck casting into it .
Get regestered and pm me !

nice fish, now guys no matter if they are, or aren't as big as they appear it doesn't matter. They are still bigger than any perch I ever caught. lol And if you never spun a fish story well your not a fisherman. lol I once made a 24" pike look like it was about 5ft long just by standing about 4 ft behind it and having the camera lower that where I was standing. lol it was a joke for the guys who couldn't make it out for that trip.

Tuff second ones look to be perch!!!
Very nice ones indeed...actually saw this picture on a similar thread between perchfisher and some one else.
Is that you with the 2 fish?.....do they still taste like our 10 to 12 inchers?
Cheers

Mike according to the site that I fetched all those pics off of those are all yellow perch. They are from a lake in the U.K that produces what they claim to be the largest yellow perch in the world. The population is apparently a strain that grow large. We should ask to have some of those transplanted to our lakes...LOL.Big perch lakes in the west I can think of are;Wakaw lake in Saskatchewan,in Alberta ones I have caught topping near 2lbs have come from Lesser slave,Utikima,Wabasca and even caught some nice jumbo's out of Hastings before it winterkilled a few years ago.By the way Hastings has been restocked again this year, hopefully it recovers in a couple years...Its was a fun lake near Edmonton.

Good Guesses guys I dont know the weight but here a pic on the tape.
Tuff I just think that frist pic looks like a bass look at the mouth and the fact that it is missing the perch "hump"...a charachteristic of big perch.
But with that second pic...wow!!
http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r23/Yukon_Jack/DSCN2259.jpg
..alittle over 13" (a bit of the tails off the tape)

At one time Hook lake and Cowpar in NE Alberta produced perch 13"+ every year.Unfourtunatly overfishing destroyed these lake's,I firmly believe many record breaking perch were caught and eaten with no thought's.The lake known as Mildred Lake at the syncrude plant, thats posted no trespassing has a huge population of 12" perch and trophy sized walleye! What a shame ppl can't access this water legally.

Nice fish!
But you have to admit something smells a little fishy here. Thanks for the pictures, But I agree with sheep great for a laugh. And what is even better is that you are getting bitter about the "fishing story" that you told. But I am not here to judge nice pics bud and 1 heck of a walleye slightly above average.
P.S. Guys are just saying what the think around here. Don't be mad. This site is to talk about your intrests and if you think that someone is telling a story say so, This is not a support group every one here can take it. Guys don't be affended like walleyeca.
