Just curious. Is a boat required to fish that lake or could a guy get away with wading in?? I'm guessing the bottom is mighty soft....?

in spots you could wade in but it is a soft bottom so you will sink in some but it only 3ft to 4 fow so you could get the whites from shore as we saw lots with in fly casting range the one day we stopped on hi-way and watch the whites hunting on the flats.. its just like Bone fishing as mostly you can sight fish them

the funny part is yesterday I had been watching my boy casting and had a lake white take my Fly rod into the lake we had to pull anchors and go chase the rod.. ended up with the fish but wow one of those ooopppssss..then earlier in May I had a anchor rope come off and had to go swimming to retrieve it..:sign0161:

Good to hear. They are a fish I've wanted to try to get into on a fly rod for a while. Just haven't really known enough about what they do in the summer to ever find them. I think I will have to give Talbot a try as it's not too far from me now that I'm in Edson.

Thanks for the recipe link Dave!! The part about removing the fat from the lateral line is really important, really important!!

I'd like to add that whites are underutilized by sport fishermen in AB. Fishing for them is pretty much like fishing for trout, they are related. In the south they are almost ignored in the summer.

Np ... we got 3 more today 1 each for myself ,Kris ,Ken none over 4#4oz but some nice fights that we lost and some exciting take downs and misses ...lmao ..fun fun fun.. those runs are sweet as into the backing a real long ways .. even had some nice jumps today..

I need to go North and find some Inconnu ..the King of Whitefish
