Ive often wondered how a pike could do it without dieing itself.... I would think when mr. Pike swallowed the rat that it would go nuts inside the pike with its sharp claws and those over sized teeth... Always figired it would mess up the pike something feirce!!

thanks for sharing that pic. makes you wonder if they don't battle it out with the odd beaver (or beaver pup). when i was a kid there were stories about people being bit by pike.

I was always scared as a kid in some of the lakes here because someone told me that pike bite you often. The only time I've been somewhat bite is slipping while taking a hook out, lmao.

That's sweet dude! I have seen photos on the net of pike "choking" to death on ducks that they couldn't completely swallow. Also if you type in pike eats duckling on YouTube some cool videos come up. Btw what lake was this at?

there was a link in the news the other day about a guy on gull lake ( I think ) that caught a 20lb pike and it had a fat gut on it. they cut her open and she had a grown duck in it. it had a pointy beak , not sure what kind it was

In Minnesota a kid was swimming in a netted off area for swimming. Thought his sister was tugging on his arm looks down and sees a big ole pike chewing on his fingers. The Dnr netted out the area and ended giving that monster to the kid.

Awesome! I heard that some old timers used to use fresh kittens from barn cat litters when available to target big pike and muskie a very long time ago.

Now you know how pike get their nice flavour.

You should have boiled it before gutting and you would have had instant surf and turf, slough style. mmmmmm
