Bass Pro Boat Trade In?

Has anyone ever done it?
I am thinking of trading my 14' fibreglass closed bow for a 1542 or 1642 tracker jon. Don't ask me why but thats what I'm thinking. Maybe possibly a trade for the Tracker 14' Guide V

Can't imagine they'd give you much at all for it.

What you want to trade it in for is of little consequence I would imagine.

I agree with Bee, sell the boat privately on Kijiji. You'll likely get a lot more cash for it, to put toward your Jon boat.

haha yes I am. Trying to sell this boat so I can get a 15' - 16' before the end of july so I can still get some fishin in.

List your boat reasonably priced and it will sell quickly. My smokercraft sold in 2 days this spring while there was still snow on the ground.

Price it to sell and you will be delighted with the responses.

If you are planning on fishing bigger lakes I wouldn't go with a jon boat. It will beat the snot out of you when the wind picks up.

Do yourself a favor and try to find a nice little used 14-16' deep V.

What about your Lund SSV idea? I think you'll get a lot more, and safer, use out of it than you will a jon boat.

If I may infer... I bet you are thinking, that you can use it for fishing AND waterfowl hunting in the fall? Yes, you definitely can. But, keep in mind PLEASE, jon boats are pretty tippy, and don't do well in swells. I've been fishing in a Jon boat in 3ft waves in Southern Alberta, and it was intense to say the least. You won't likely encounter 3ft waves while waterfowl hunting, catch my drift?

If I were you, keep going with your closed bow for now. It gets you fishing right now, you already have it. Plan on dolling it up this winter; paint, new fish finder (AOF Buy and Sell), yadda yadda yadda, then put it up for sale in March. More people are looking at buying boats at that time, then now. You'll likely get a better price then.

By stalling through winter, you can save some extra cash. Then come March - May, you can get ready to pull the trigger on a really sweet boat! You'll have a bigger budget, and can get the boat you want - without sacrificing anything.

If you're half as busy as your project posts detail, you'll be using your boat a lot. If you are really happy with it, you will get that much more out of the experiences and adventures you are going to have in it.

I'll keep an eye out for a Jon boat for ya. They frequently come up for sale, really cheap. Just have to be in the right place, at the right time. Then you have a waterfowl boat, and a slammin' fishing boat.

Just somethings to consider bud, in no way am I telling you what to do. I can tell you this - I've done exactly as you are considering doing. I even had a fibreglass 14 ft, covered bow fishing boat. Is the bow of your boat blue?!? lol

I now have a duck boat, a handmade row boat that KenAO7Vette delivered from Paradise Valley (yes, he really is a great human being) and a fishing boat. Its works out great; I'm not taking a duck boat fishing, nor am I taking a fishing boat waterfowl hunting.

I just sold the boat. Now I need to find a different one.

16' deep vee - the Lund SSV is the ticket for fishing .......... trust me on this one ...... been there, done that, and learned alot with each mistake.

Go with a 16', tiller, as much horses as you can afford.

Also have a peek at the Trackers, Been really happy with my Tracker Pro Guide 175. Good deep "V" great in the chop with lots of room for both family and fishing. No problems at all in the year I've had it and terrific service from Bass Pro which is gold.
