Heading to whiteswan lake in a week, how is the fishing this time of year? I assume they are down deep but how deep should I start fishing.I would like to use the fly rod but I also have downriggers.any help would be great we went there a couple years ago and got skunked but I didn't have riggers and minimal fly fishing experience. Thanks in advance.

We fish there every year. Beautiful lake and CLEAN. Best tasting trout hands down. Fish can reach the near 30 lb mark. Drag large minnows very slowly on bottom. Find the depth the fish are at. A good depth finder will help. Good luck. Take some pics for us at work. Lol

The lake itself can be tough at times...I usually take a drive up the logging roads and bring some streamers for the Bulls, there's tons of them and you'll be the only one out there!

When I've been there the old guys would go out in the evening, sort of SE corner and use worms under a bobber...and do well

Last time I was out there, out of the 1/2 dozen boats on the water, some guy in a canoe was doing the best and he was right by the campground!

Looking at the campground from the water, it would have been about 1-200 yds. to the left(west) of the boat ramp and about 10-20 yds off shore. He was using a fly rod and I never did get a chance to talk to him as to what flies were good.

They hammer green panther martins, have never seen a really decent one, average is 2 lbs with the odd one around 4. They say there are 10 lbers, yet to catch one tho. Worms under a bobber set 6' deep along the drops works too.

The road is closed at the 32.5 km mark. Lake is only 25 km from the highway.

Last time we were there, there were plenty of fish...but the damn things would just sit there and look at me and laugh. It was pretty hot though.
Site #16 is the best one at Home basin campground.

Beauty lake, chironomids and catatonic under indicator should work once you find your depth.

Can be slow, tight lines!

Just got back from a week of camping/fishing here. What a perfect place, I sight fished from shore. All the fish I caught were at least 20", it was super hot but boy were they ever biting. Pretty sure my mom could catch a fish on a fly rod here. I had to laugh at all the guys with boats, what a waste of gas, no need for a boat.

Hi guys
No fish or fish product other than roe can be used as per regulations, No minnoes. Minnoe flies yes. Muddler minoe patters are very good.
