Well bad news for the start of my hunting season. Broke my hand last night at ball. Thought I Dislocated my finger, so went to see doc today. After looking at the X-rays, I have A broken bone in my hand. Next thing I know they're putting a cast on my hand. I can't hold my bow or my rifle.:mad3: Eh Maybe if I get some of them there shooting stiks i can still make opening day for my sheep hunt I was planning??? Or not may just have to wait a few weeks. So you guys going out for the begining of the season leave a few out ther for me ok.....:rolleye2::rolleye2:

You right hand or left - I guess I should ask if you are right handed or southpaw!

Just file down the cast until your able to hold the bow or rifle. You could also wet it down to soften it up and just shape it to what you need.

I did a mountain goat hunt in 93 with a broken wrist, happened just before we left, found out when we got back the extent of what was wrong ( to stubborn to cancel and leave me friend all packed up with no where to go ), couldn't bend my wrist and had to be bloody careful while climbing. Made it to above 9000 ft then it got too steep to continue without using my hands.
Got snowed out and chased off the mountain by miserable weather. One of the more memorable hunts I've been on. Passed on a nice billy, long shot in a strong cross wind, and not a great chance for a follow up shot if needed. Had to let him go.
Where there's a will theres a way. Good luck

Suck it up princess!:D
Mike, that sucks man! Leave the bow alone for now, but make the rifle work. Let it heal. No sense making things worse. Breaks are 6-8 weeks, so with it only being August, you'll be flinging arrows during the rut. Relax, it's all good.
I fractured a couple of bones in my hand in January (whew!) of '01. No biggie, but the problem was that due to the fact that it was a 'crush' type injury, the metatarsals (?) had actually dislocated. Weirdest feeling ever to grab a jug of milk without thinking and feel the back of your hand come apart. Ouch! It took way too long to heal, as I was back working it in a couple of days...........stupid, but broke in the winter.
Good luck man and I hope it all works out.
