What is the best sights/sighting set ups?

What are the best sights and sighting set ups being used for hunting? I'm using a trophy ridge w/ 4 pins set at 10/20/30/40.

Was thinkin of changing it up.

Either keeping same sights and changing them to 15/30/40/50, or going with a different sight with more pins.

The goal is to increase effective range, and am also looking to lose the tubeless peep, and attach an anchor sight.

And opinions/ ideas are welcome.

Shooting a Mathews DXT approx 60lbs, WB, G5 peep .250", G5 quiver.

I shoot 3 pins.

First pin is at 27 yards. (3 inches high at 20 yards. 3 inches low at 30)

Then the next pins are 40 and 50.

You don't need a pin for 10 yards. Your 20 will hit dead on at 20

I agree that a 10 yard pin is unnecessary! With my 4-pin set up i start at 25, because I found 10-25 yds were so tight together it seemed like a waste. Also I like to keep my increments the same, less chance of a mix up at crunch time. Just my two cents

I use a spott hog Hunter 5 pin 20-30-40-50-60. I use a QAD ultra rest but am thinking of changing that. I use a RAD trio peep cause I hat peeps with tubes and this is the best tubless I can find. I would like to try an anchor sight but dont want to risk the dough and there is noone up here that I know with one.

I really like the spott hogg and cannot recomend it enough. The QAD rest is ok but bleh. I think there are better rests out there. As peeps go the rad trio is the bomb.

Oh forgot To mention. I have the CbE tek hunter. So it is a movable sight with a 3 pin housing. My pins are set but I can dial and shoot out to 150 yards using my bottom pin. Best of both worlds

Been looking at those sights, quite tempted.

Set my for basic 20, 30, 40, 50, 60. Keep it simple for hunting.

go with a black gold sight , built like a rock and they have one of the brightest pins out there

I use a spot Hogg hunter Hogg it on both my rigs, 25-35-45-55-65. Works out pretty good. I used to use a 25-40-50-60-70 set up, and that worked good too. The speed of your bow and your skill level will dictate what works best for you. FYI my rigs are both 390 grains at 313 fps. Don't know if your dxt can duplicate that, but like I said your bow performance and your skill will dictate the pin gaps you can effectively use. For what it's worth, I have rarely had any need to use anything but my top pin on big game.

Interesting Fact is if you are too close at 5 YDs...
Use your 40 yuard pin and for bows in that 280-300 FPS range you will be dead on

My 4 pin sight top pin works the same at 20 and 30 yards, got 40 sighted in and 50 today. Sighting in 60 next week once I get my 50 yard within 2" groupings on the mark 10 volleys in a row.

However most kills happen within the 20 to 30 yard mark. I'm setting mine up to go to 60 but I doubt Id ever try to take a deer at that distance. Know a lot of people are switching to the single pin sights for hunting.

I have two different ones that I use.
my long range set up:
PSE Omen Pro (70lbs)
Axcel Armortech 5 pin....1st pin at 40 yards, 2nd at 60yds, 3rd at 70yds, 4th at 80yds and the 5th at 90yds. I aim at the heart for everything within 40 yards and it help cover range estimates. Anything over 40+ yards I will range and pick the appropriate pin. The 80 and 90 yard pins are for practice as it makes my 50 and under shots feel like chip shots. This is my elk/mule deer set up in the prairies.

My other set up is on a Bowtech Guardian (70lbs)
Blackgold Ascent with a 6" dove tail, 4 pins and a slider for long range practice. 1st pin 20 yards, 2nd set at 30, 3rd at 40 and 4th at 50yds. From there the 50 is use on the slider to be dialed in to the longer ranges. Very smooth bow for the white tail woods and late winter hunting when its harder to pull back the string in our winters.

So many ways to set up to our personal tastes......as long as you can make a good, clean shot then this is a great setup.
