I shoot off my right shoulder, yet am left eye dominate. As a result I have always shot with my left eye closed

Close my right eye while drawing back and acquiring my target then open my right eye before I shoot to gain the peripheral...so I shoot with both eyes open.

My hunting bow has a spot hogg 5 pin sight with a 1 5/8" housing with a white ring. I seem to have to close my left eye (never used to) when shooting or else I get a double image. The strange thing is the Montana BG sight on my 3D bow can be shot with both eyes open. Same housing size, but with a bright green ring, the pins are clear, and I don't get a double image. Haven't figured out why yet.

Yup me too. Tried shooting left handed a couple times felt too weird.

x3 - although my left eye is usually just peeking and it seems the more I can open it during the shot, the more accurate I am.

:D It is my humble opionion that all shooters should keep both eyes open for peripheral, especially for hunting,

We try to instruct new shooters to do so, some we find quickly have eye issues, mostly with dominant eye struggles where the left eye for a RH shooter fights to be dominant, than it is advisible to close left eye.

Some even will shoot left handed because they are left eye dominant, most right handed shooters however cant shoot left handed so have to close left eye.

However if there are no eye issues bowhunters should keep both eyes open

First time anyone shoots a bow it is awkward no matter the hand....

All that happens when you don't use dominant eye is you make your job harder as you have to close an eye to shoot...

There are some rare (odd) people who do not have a dominant eye...i.e. it switches constantly who have to shoot with one eye closed because of that...

I have helped many people switch to their dominant eye side away from their dominant hand and at first it is awkward and weak.. but in a bit they get it and suddenly switching to other side feels more weird...

eye dominance is very important....
