Went down to the Calgary Archery Center today for the first time ever. Picked up a new Hoyt Spyder Turbo. Very impressed with the bow but more impressed with the service from John that hooked and dressed me up. Very Impressed with how knowledgeable he was and the work he did on it. Thank you also to Deano who quickly put another peep in and got me up and running again. Great experience for sure!!:)

the 400 arrows will work fine for your bow. That number is the spine deflection, not the arrow weight. The larger the spine number, the more the arrow will bend or flex. 300's flex less than 500's is an easy way to look at it. You require a stiffer arrow for longer draw's, higher draw weights and heavier broadheads.

Good to hear. I have always had good service at CAC. I was there today shooting at lunch. Have fun with the new bow. Saw a guy buying an Elite and another picking up 2 diamond infinite edges for his lucky kids! Archery is alive and well in Calgary. That's for sure.

As far as the arrow question goes, you can figure out a lot of arrow info if you look here: http://www.huntersfriend.com/carbon_arrows/hunting_arrows_selection_guide_chapter_1.htm

Or here: http://www.carbonexpressarrows.com/shaft-selector

Also you can head to the archery center or Jimbows with your bow and they will set you up with some great arrows.

What's the speed of your bow? Also, what length are you cutting your arrows? What grain of broadhead/field tip? The Easton chart is great because it gives you the actual deflection of the spine. Carbon Express is wonky because a 400 size is actually a .298 spine (deflection).

:D CX does also ...they just have a different rating system...as does gold tip wit 5575 etc

CX uses 250-350 and 450 as their arrow spine...

The piledriver for example that has a 450 arrow

250-0.402" spine

350-0.345" spine

450-0.300" spine

I agree there should be a standard rating system like Eastons...
