Bow string snapped.. Now what?

Well, I was gopher hunting with my bow today and I was just about to shoot this gopher and my string just snapped, there is nothin left of the string, where do I take it, how much will it cost and how long ?

Take it to Jimbow's.

The guys there will check your whole bow out, and make sure you didn't damage anything. Especially if it happened in the draw cycle. Better safe than sorry. They'll fix your string and cable and take good care of you and your bow.

If your in Calgary then I agree.

Get it checked out....but you probably have no damage.
Bows are dry fired in the presale testing (so I have been told)....so no damage will hopefully be the case.

I don't believe at all that a bow is dry fired in presale testing (not evey bow is dry fired before they sell it).....a brand new bow that has only been assembled and never fired can be irreversibly damaged by a SINGLE dry fire.

.....a bow company may dry fire test their bows in R&D to see what they do so they know if a warranty return was a dry fire or not.

I'd take it to where ever you bought it from or like everyone says Jim Bows my buddy has his string snap at full draw and my other buddies Mathews creed bottom limb snapped at full draw. Both were fixed with in 2 days at shops here in Edmonton.

Hope you didn't get hurt from that, my buddy's heart was racing when that happened.

I don't know for sure.....it's just what a bow shop owner told me.

You may be right (maybe not each item)....but I was told that bows are dry fired in the product testing.

I believe they are manufactured to handle it.....not several times or continually though.

In my experience....a buddy dry fired my Hoyt by accident once.....so I took it in for a checkup and it was fine. That's when I was told what I previously mentioned.

:D Bows purposely dry-fired before sales at manufactures was back before 300 FPS bows of today...Most of the destroyed bows brought in here had broken strings...mostly at peep...but broken strings react as a dry-fire...
So advise is take it in ...it needs magnifying glass inspection..


Most will have cracked limbs
