Got into some smallmouth bass today. Caught a big guy on my first cast! There was a bunch of other larger ones that followed it up when I was fighting it. I think I'm going to get it mounted. Hopefully these pics work....http://i1363.photobucket.com/albums/r704/AJAlberda/null_zpsdba95d46.jpg http://i1363.photobucket.com/albums/r704/AJAlberda/null_zpsc84a2c78.jpg http://i1363.photobucket.com/albums/r704/AJAlberda/null_zpsf0545e6a.jpg http://i1363.photobucket.com/albums/r704/AJAlberda/null_zps2412d63d.jpg[/[IMG]http://i1363.photobucket.com/albums/r704/AJAlberda/null_zpsb5a433e4.jpg]

Considering doing some Bc bassin' as well next weekend. Wouldn't mind some info if you want to share. Like what to expect for size and numbers mostly and what lakes you fished.

Never get chance to taste this fish. Is it good? Compared perch, which one is better? Were you fishing close to nanaimo since you mentioned van island?

I kept the small one to eat and the big one is getting mounted thanks tips. Don't you worry I eat enough coho sockeye prawns halibut and crabs out here to wash that yucky bass down. I don't have the luxury of bass fishing in Alberta... :snapoutofit:

Replicas suck, I like the real deal. It's people like you and gunner that stop people from posting pictures....
Keep it up

Congrats on the catch, have never tasted bass. Never kept em back home, caught lots in Manitoba/Ontario, but always viewed them as a sport fish... How did it taste?

You prefer real mounts over replicas? I've heard the real ones degraded over time, and that replicas don't? Either way, nice smallie! Post pics when you get your mount done.

Cheer!

Edit** ignore the angry face, don't even know how or why that was added

Im not criticizing im making light =lol .little miss panties in a bunch. You are on Vancouver island a world renowned salmon destination to which anglers the world over flock to catch the famed tyee and the flatlanderz chasing bass for the pot and mounting a big 4lber. Its f'n funny is all. Ever caught a herring lol.

My arms are sore from 2 days of salmon fishing catching dozens of salmon. I have 2 weeks out here plenty of time bud. I make this trip every year. Have fun looking at my salmon threads and please keep your lame humor to yourself.

Pay no attention to the clowns who know it all while they are sitting on the couch and you're hammering fish. Maroons!!

I've caught a ton of Smallmouth and ate lots of them. Nothing wrong with them. Great scrappers and great eating as well.

Thanks for posting.:sHa_shakeshout:

Thanks man. Funny thing is at this lake they have signs up encouraging people to retain the bass as they are decimating the wild cutthroat population. Can't wait to fry it up ill let everyone know how it tastes!

Thanks for posting, bonk a few for me!!! I've never had the urge to keep any smallies from the island, but reading some of these posts it's sounds like they'd go great with the BC whine.
