Thinking of taking advantage of the Fishin' Hole sale to get a fly rod.

Used to fly fish, but some years ago, and never fly fished here in Alberta.

Would like to trout fish some of the eastern slopes, up by Grande Cache, Jasper maybe.

What sort of length of rod would you recommend - thinking 9' maybe.

What weight of line?

Any help appreciated.

Just got back from the sale there (91 street in Edmonton) and picked up a fly rod for my wife. It's her first fly rod and I was looking for an 8'6 5 weight but ended up with a 9'0 6 weight. The selection of less expensive fly rods was not as good as the higher end rods but I got a decent reel for 50% off. The sale was pretty good and I ended up spending some of my new hunting rifle money and I'm going back again tomorrow (without my wife!!!)

I'd recommend a 5 weight from 8-9 feet, whatever length puts a smile on your face.

6 wt Sage Launch. The "fly" is more $ but is supposed to be better yet

I would suggest a TFO Signature Series in 5 wt. No sense spending big bucks on a rod off the start. It's still the first rod I string up.
