Los Cabos or Puerto Vallarta for marlin

The 'who can catch the biggest fish' competition with my fishing partner has now moved from trout, to salmon, and now into the realm of marlin.

Can anyone recommend the absolutely best time to fish for marlin, in either Puerto Vallarta or Cabo San Lucas / San Jose del Cabo?

I suspect it'll be sometime in November (?)- but I won't get any hunting draws in '07, so even November would work this year!

- any specific boats/guides would be appreciated as well

If you want to go out of PV, my buddy lives there and owns/runs the no name Cafe. I know he can hook you up with what you need. He wanted us to come down in Nov for the big Fishing derby. Perhaps you should look into that? I know if you want to do that kind of thing you have to book right now to get a boat.

On the west coast October/November is your best bet blue and black marlin.

Jamie we're not keen on entering any tournaments, but I might take you up on the offer to contact your friend for boat recommendations.

Gotta check with the ladies and see which town they prefer.
