Ever since I switched to Blazer vanes (8-9 years ago) I have been shooting straight vanes but recently have been reading that for a hunting bow I should maybe be using helical.

What are everyone's thoughts on this......I have never been asked or suggest by a proshop when getting new vanes installed.

Thanks

Are you using blazers?

yes I am....I'm using 2 inch blazers with 3 degree right helical. ( I use the Bohning Helical Jig.)

I use the Arizona EZ-Fletch Helical on 2 inch Fusion Vanes and I really like it. I think I shoot tigher groups with it but I don't really have any proof of that.

Heading to the range today to fly a few braodheads for the first time, but I am told that is where I will really see the benefit.

I started a thread on this a while ago. The majority of guys said either helical or offset.

Bear with my green horn approach to archery (reading and learning as much as possible) but where does one buy helical vaned arrow shafts? Does WSS or Cabelas have these or do they simply sell straight vane ones? I have been searching but to no avail. i would like to try these helical style for broadheads as it seems like that is the way to go.

: Avoid straight for broadheads...for target or fieldpoints it doesnt matter as much...

Offset mininum...we fletch with as much offset as the vane and arrow will allow full contact...

helical all the way. For me it adds a measure of forgiveness when I don't do everything just right
