View Full Version : Bait for Spray Lakers?
Hi all,
I read in the regs that fishing with bait fish (dead) is not allowed in Spray. That is bait fish from the sucker, stickleback, trout-perch, darter and minnow famillies.
So what do you guys use to catch lakers in Spray?
Thanks and happy hooking.

Bowfin's right. Smelt are permitted on Spray - and probably used by 90% of the people out there.

Thanks guys. I've used smelts for pike, guess I just thought that bait was a bit big for the little LKTRs in Spray. I hope to give it a try in the next couple of weeks. I've had such a dismal ice-fishing season I thought Spray would be a good bet to hook something.
...Canmoron, what are the other 10% using? Shrimp?
Thanks again. Happy hoooking all.

I usually pick up small smelts. They are only about 4 inches long. Canadian Tire usually carries them.
