Well, I am hoping to get a boat this spring, but before I do.

Can anyone give me some good ideas as to where I can get some good shore fishing in.

I really want to try for some trout starting this year, and would perfer a hike into the spot, and a little seclution.

Looking for 2 Hrs less, and will fish for any species, but trout is what I'd like to start hitting.

Thanks, and good luck this "non-hard-water" season.

Well good luck finding seclution. There are lots of trout lakes around Edmonton Edmonton Pothole Lakes (http://mikemonteith.tripod.com/flyfishingedmonton/id3.html)
And farther west you have Millers and Wildhorse. If you want seclusion then pick up[ a copy of Barry Mitchell's Alberta Fishing Guide. It lists most stream fisheries in Alberta. Pick one (as close to the mountains as you can get) and do some exploring. Popular streams are...
Prarie Creek
The Berland
The Mcloud
The little smokey
The reddeer
The north ram
The south ram
The blackstone
Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Doc

Its worth the drive to the Embarrass River once its opens. Not too busy if you walk more than a few hundred meters off roads. Pretty much every little creek in that region has trout otherwise, find some beaver ponds and your in business.
