was talking to an old pro and he said....
1.....your fletches should line up with the blades of your broadhead for better accuarcy
2...the best broadheads to use are "mechanical" ones that look like a field tip but on impact the blades "pop" open.

comments?

With a good tuned bow you shouldnt have to worry abou fletchings lining up with blades.as far as broadheads go i like to keep it simple less parts the better.ive shot grim reapers they fly good but so do montecs. I prefer the solid simplicity of the montec

1 Why is that ? Cause one steers the other ?
2 Why is that ? Cause one's that don't pop open fail ?

1 shouldn't clearance of the rest and center point be of first importance ?
2. shouldn't point of impact between bhs and targets be of first importance ?

These questions are simply to provoke replyies like mine.
So there they are.
The questions in no way narrow down what you need to know.
Only provoke repies like mine.

An honest bowhunter will ask questions like..
1. I'm shooting 55 lb. peak is that enough to hunt elk ?
2. I'm finding my bhs 2" to the right of fts at 20 yards what's wrong?
3. I'm shooting bullets through paper at 10 yards but cant group my bhs?
4. I'm seeing a drop after my 3rd or 4th arrow.
5. My D loop turns a half twist why is that ?

These are real questions or problems.

Getting foggy answers to foggy questions only gets you.
More Foggy.

It's most crictical that your fletching be matched to each other.
Weather you use 2" blazers or 5" vaintek is not as important as each of
the three vains match each other on a given arrow shaft.
In essance if one of the three vains is longer or shorter or curved with an
off set differnet than the other two veins you will NOT get a match for that
arrow NOR the rest in your group of arrows.

That's where you start when fletching. Get it ?

Answer number 2...
Mech. BHs have a minimum of wind resistantce.
So they CAN correct for human error much better than fixed blades.
Yes this is true.
Fact is if you shoot with a large impart of HUMAN ERROR no bh can help you
now really.
Get it ?
Yes you do have to spend the time to do the target shooting before
hunting season comes on, but it does not have to be an overwhelming thing.

Mechs. have there place but Fixed Blades are the norm.
There is a reason for that.

as a newbie archer even some of the questions i ask might sound silly to experianced bow hunters. i do appreciate the replies, however, and when i hear a tip or advice from someone, i like the second opinions from this forum.
i will remember the brands montec and grim reaper for possible broadheads in the future and "bones" certainly provided a lot to think about.
keep in mind that being a new bowhunter does not mean your not an honest bowhunter.

I've used Slick Tricks, Montecs, Grim Reapers, Blood Runners and some others. They all work good and do the trick but the Shuttle T locks are by far my favorite. They fly identicle to field points and stay sharp
