Try Sept 15-23......should be rutting hard by then.

If you're decoying elnino is right on the money, but if you're "water holing", I'd be after em right away!
Let us know how you make out.

If you want to decoy then later is better but if you want to stock or water hole them, this week is a good time. I have had good luck early in past years and I'm heading down on Thursday to try again. I have found that the bucks are still in their "summer routine" and are often by themselves so easier to stock and not moving to far. Good luck on your hunt.

Rick.

Good luck PLOTT, which zone are you in? So far I know about 13% of the hunters in H!

Last year I killed a 72" on Sept 11; hunted 3 hours and had 3 bucks decoy within bow range; I think the timing varies around the zones, but don't rule out the early sept. season for some good decoying.

I am drawn in [102/118] and planning to go on Sept 12-15 for first go so I hope they are rutting good by then.

Tried throughing up the decoy tonight (Sept 5). They were more curious than anything. The entire herd, 1 buck and about 7 does came to within 60 yards.

Interesting, had a couple of bucks that were together come to just outside of 80 last night with the decoy. I'm going to look for loners tomorrow. Seen 1 decent one last Saturday in the morning and a really good one on opening day but I didn't have permission.

I was hunting in 102 on Thursday for Antelope the bucks have started to hang around the does. I used a decoy to bring in a buck he was with two does. He did not charge in but came in at a fast walk to 30 yrds. I think a decoy will work early but not with all, you just have to try and see. I used a Montana decoy, never used a store bought one before but it is easy to use and worked well. I also had the Primos Antelope call and it sure gets their attention and stops them on the spot. For the cost I think it's a good thing to have in your pocket. I attached a picture of my decoy in the field

I was out today, snuck up to within 100 yards or so of a buck with one doe, I put up the decoy and he came racing in and stoped at about fifty yards. All I could se was the tips of his horns through the grass so I looked down to attach my release to the bow and when I looked up he was gone. I glanced to my left and he made his way down wind and stood there looking at me no more then twenty five yards. I drew back on him and he started to turn broadside but at the last second he blew and took off. I guess next time I will know to watch the down wind side. This is my first time hunting antelope, so learning is part of the game I guess

Wow, I really can't wait to try this antelope hunting with decoys, sure sounds like fun and challenging. I would definetly invest in a montana decoy, that setup above is sweet and very easy to move.

2 of the sets I had antelope in range. I totally blew one shot, completely missed, I have no idea what happened so I changed bows and I'll be checking it out tomorrow or Sunday. (Either that or pitching my range finder). Some were agressive, others hauled the does off or the does busted me and hauled the buck away.

Rockymtnx, this is my 2nd goat.
