My future father in law decided I was worthy of a spot on his annual fishing trip with him and his buddies from Yellowknife, I jumped at the chance. We hopped in a couple boats armed with bigger rods than I've ever used before and left Yellowknife for a 9 hour boat ride to the East arm of Great Slave lake. When we finally got there I couldn't believe my eyes, it's beautiful up there and we didn't see another boat for the 5 days we were there, other than a couple kayakers from Norway who I chatted with for a while and ended up giving some flies to.
I have limited pictures due to an almost dead battery and no charging cable, but I've been invited back next year so I won't be making that mistake again.

Awesome pics. Those cliffs are amazing. I love fishing the north, you can easily get the feeling that you're the first or one of a handful of people to have ever been to that spot. Thanks for sharing. Next yet ought have to try and use my fly rod for lakers too. :)

I had much better luck fly fishing in 30 foot of water that the other guys did fishing deeper with their trolling rods. They were actually getting a little annoyed with me. Tough for them I say!

Thankx for posting , epic scenes of the area . Lol when flies are on they cant be beat . Next time try a full sink so you can show them up whilst trolling with them .cheers .

That's exactly what I had in mind, a few times I was wishing I had a full sink line and next year I will have one for sure

Nice pics. You were in the Talthelei Narrows. I was up there this summer fishing out of the camp at Plummer's Lodges. Amazing trip! Even caught the fish of a life time weighing in at 53 lbs.

We were about an hour east by boat of plummers, largest caught by our group was 33lbs. At 53lbs now that is a fish of a lifetime, that's great to hear!! Well done
