Certain fish are spooked more than others. In my experience, Pike and Lake trout don't really care about it and we've even had some Pike take a swipe at the camera. I've only used a camera for brookies twice and they didn't seem to care either. I think whitefish are the most camera shy, and I don't use a camera for them, only a flasher. I only use a flasher for walleye through the ice as well.

For a flasher, I think that you will be hard pressed to find a decent but cheap unit. I run an HDS-5 with the ice fishing transducer. Very awesome rig...but expensive as well.

i fish gull lake alot in the winter and i put my camera about three feet in front of my shack and point it towards my holes, caught lots of fish, but i do notice that the light does keep the fish away

yea....i was thinking whites were the ones that are the most spooked.....maybe ill try 1 day with and 1 day without and see what happens....

Its kinda hard to prove though....

I have caught walleye, perch, burbot and pike while using my AquaVu in Gull Lake without spooking any fish...if the camera is not bouncing around I do not think it spooks fish.

I love using cameras when ice fishing at least for the fishing I do(Mostly perch, walleye and pike). But also use HDS 5 and a LMS 332 sonars.

been using a camera for a few years now.... doesnt seem to bother
most fish.

in fact..... you almost have to clean out your drawers when the
Pike come at it and try to eat the Camera.

its only happened a few times ....... exciting.

see you on the ice.....

I picked up one of these last season.
It's the size of a smartphone, color and the camera is the size of a quarter!

When I'm targeting Whitefish/Perch/Trout I use it and for Pike/Burbot/Walleye I use my Marcum VS380.

And now that I've got free beer for life, the wife will get off my back about the cost of it!...lol.

what the hell is that thing? a camera? dosnt look like it has much cable.....

Yup same idea as your FishTV and has 50' of cable. It also has attachments to hang the camera vertical, horizontal and even weighted during trolling!
Best part is on the ice I use my iPhone (Navionics app) to find ledges or GPS waypoints etc. Then I drill a test hole and pull this outta my pocket and BAM! I can find "THE" spot a lot quicker and easier than w/bulky camera setups like the marcum. Works the same way in the boat (minus the ice...lol).

I love it!

how long does the power last in that little thing ?

Depends really, full brightness (which I never use) 6hrs and mid level 8hrs plus it came with a car charger so when I need to recharge its easy on the ice or in the boat.

One thing about using a camera, your frustration levels can get pretty high when you see just how many fish really do ignore you :sign0176:
