CHILLIWACK, B.C. - A B.C. fishing guide has one heck of a fish story to tell after hooking a mammoth 300-kilogram sturgeon on the Fraser River.
Rod Toth was leading a fishing trip with four other men last week near Chilliwack when there was an unusually strong tug on the line.
The group tried to pull up their catch for nearly three hours before they were finally able to bring the giant fish to shore.
Toth, a 40-year-old guide who operates out of Chilliwack, says he knew it was going to a big one, but he had no idea just how large it was until they pulled it to shallow water.
The sturgeon, which was tagged and released, was more than three metres long and 1.4 metres around.
