Hi
I've got a Humminbird PiranhaMAX in a portable with a duel beam. It's about 7years old .It's a basic unit and works very well. I have never had any other make last this long. In the last 40 years I have had a variety of other makes and models. I have had friends that have had the potable unit that hangs over the side of the boat. None of them lasted very long. Every time you move you have to lift the dam thing out of the water. What a pain in the ---.

My advice would be to wait until spring, put a little more money away, and look for a good used unit. You'll get twice the screen size and twice the features for half the cost of a new one.
