Can anyone tell me where a guy could take an animal to hang it, or get it processed around Spirit River? I have a place to hand it if the weather is right, but if it's warm, we'll have to get them somewhere. Last year, we just piled bags of ice on them and booted it for home. It was pretty warm.

I'll be running around up there on opening week in a silver Tacoma and staying in Spirit River if anyone wants to PM me to have a beer and BS.

I found this by the magic of Google :) Looks like maybe I'll have to go to Grande Prairie??

Thanks!

Virgil at SuperA foods. Or you could try a guy out about 2 or 3 miles past the Moonshine lake turnoff, can't remember the name, used him two years ago, kinda pricey just for the cooler, and he's an American if that counts for anything.

During opening week H&M Meats in GP will often fill up quickly. We've had success with Heart Valley Processors and they did a decent job. They are listed in the Link you posted Dave C. I thought Lawrence Meat Packing in Dawson Creek did wild game also, might be worth calling them. Both of these would easily be within an hour or so drive from Spirit River.

The guy up the highway past Moonshine was the Lost Arrows Ranch. Can't remember his name anymore but two years ago he told me he was done and that he was working for the butcher in town. Just ask some of the locals and they'll be more than helpful.

Last year Heart Valley south of Wanham was not accepting any wild meat for hanging and or butchering.
That was Sept.

Just an update for anyone looking for a Butcher/meat cooler in the Spirit river area, Heart Valley is accepting wild game this year, although if you want to hang it, they want to process it,(well ateast last week.)
Stan, the owner seems to run a pretty good operation,

We hung our elk last week in Sexsmith. Double B was the name of the butcher. It was a hang only deal. $4/hook/day, or $40 minimum. Owners name is Bill
