So it is time to put everything away into storage since Crabbing and fishing season is over for me. time to bury myself in work til next summer.

Anyway, I had the choice to get a fiberglass boat or inflatable boat and I chose inflatable for one huge reason : storage.......and transportation...ok thats 2 reasons.

I have a small sedan and there is no way I can put a dingy into my car. I didnt want to get the attachments for towing the boat either.

I also feel unsafe. What if, by the time i get to the beach, I look behind and the whole boat is gone ? lol it prolly wouldnt happen but it makes me feel uneasy.

And the storage! wholy cow i live in a small place with barely any garage space. a full size 4-6 person fiberglass or a compressed inflatable boat? the inflatable boat wins again. The pic below show how compact everythiing is when placed in my trunk.

Only down side is the boat gets holes every once and a while which i repair with vinyl adhesive.

The pic below shows how small the boat gets after deflation. the boat is underneath the blue bin. Easy storage!

I've been tempted to get one for similar reasons. Does yours have a solid or soft floor?

I use an inflatable boat too even though everyone says I'm crazy for fishing in it. Lol! It's so much easier to just deflate it and throw it into the back of my vehicle when I'm done (oh man there's a good inflatable boyfriend joke here. Leaving it). The only drawback I've found is that when I hook a fish I don't have the stability I'd like when reeling in. I get thrown around a bit. I'd love to have a wooden floor put in it. Other than that though its great. :)

i've got two fish hunter one just for myself and another for two pp comfortly. and it's my third season on this and gosh~ i need to work on that hard floor. my buddy has heavier duty inflt boat which came with alluminum floor. that makes so much easier and can stay on the water longer. maybe later, i'm gonna look into 14' inflt with at least 10hp outbound. but then, i'm gonna need trailer to go with. and at the end of each season, pooosh~ and box it.
happy fishing !! before hard water comes.

cheers.

Sold my Clackacraft years ago and bought a inflatable with a rowing frame. Never looked back, absolutely love it. Very versatile and I have been floating several rivers not on a lot of anglers radar for floating/fishing

this is my boat. the intex seahawk 4. Cheap and gets the job done. There are many tutorials online showing how to build a plywood floor. I do not need one yet but one day, when I got the time and want to take on the project, I will be building the floor.

In your OP you are comparing to a fibreglass that seats 4-6.... where do the other 5 people go?

Fishing solo this makes sense but if you want to go with a friend you better really enjoy their company. :grouphugg:
