Hey everyone,

Hope you are all having a great fishing season so far. Due to high gas prices I have not gotten out as much as I would like to.

I was just wondering if anyone would care to share information on fly Fishing the North Saskatchewan River in or around the City?
More or less just wondering if there are any recommended patterns or areas that anyone would care to share.

Just want to get out and wet a line...

Thanks.

Awesome..... yeah i might have to give that a try.... I don't know if i will need to use that special leader for the eyes but I know that when going for pike you use them then.

Thanks AB

for Walleyes just make your own leader, like 20lb-12lb-8lb. Nothing fancy needed.

Way to go anvil. now i want to go fishing :(

Hey everyone,

Well I was able to get out and do some fly fishing at Whitemud creek on the NSR tonight. Didn't get out until 8 pm and fished until 10pm roughly. Didn't really switch up patterns as I was just out for a bit tonight.

I actually managed to catch and land a small walleye to my surprise and lost something else a few casts later. It was a smaller eye maybe 12-14 inches long not big at all.

This was the fly I landed it on....Was this the Fly you were talking about Alberta Bigbore?

No, that looks like a water logged Wooly Bugger

Below is a link to a quick pic of a clouser minnow, they also work well in pigeon lake for the in-bred walleyes and come in various colors or tie your own.
