muir lake bonanza

Was out at Muir for a few hours this afternoon.
I had three break-offs and caught 2 nice fat hawgs.
first was about 20" and probably 3-4lbs the second was bigger by a couple inches and had to be in the 5-6lbs range. All caught on water boatmen.
after all the break-offs I'll have to replenish the boatmen stock!!!!

What tie of boatmen? Color? Size?

honestly I don't know what "Tie"
but the best seemed to be size 12-14 with shorter legs, and black body with some crystal or tinsel on it's backside. fished with a 9' leader on floating line
with 2 split shots about 18-20" above the fly. hope this helps
