Lowrance announced new Spotlight(forward looking sonar imaging), like hummingbird 360 but at a fraction of the cost.

Brought this one up for you EZM:)
Supposed to be 1/3 the cost of the Humminbird 360.

lol - you are right - I am the sucker who buys all the cool stuff first and then kicks himself a year later.

My first VCR was $800 ....... lol

I really use my side imaging quite a bit when targeting lakers/rainbows in deep water. The technology works.

Nothing like trolling along only to see a school of fish 120 feet off to your left, down 60 feet, suspended in 180' of water, and being able to turn, set your gear at the right depth and make a pass right over them ........ that's when it's worth it ....

I am a sucker for technology as well.

Love side imaging as well.

Hard to keep up.

I've been researching it a bit. It definitely looks very cool and I can think of a few situations where it would be a big advantage.

'Bird 360 is close to $3000 and not something I'd ever buy, the Lowrance Spotlight will be about $1000. It's still a $1000 though, and I'd have to see it in action before I'd be willing to shell out another grand on electronics.

Will it be adaptable to older HDS units ?

It will only work with Gen2 HDS and HDS touch units.

The bigger problem (for me anyway) is that as of now, it's only compatible with cable steer trolling motors, it won't work with the MinnKota Terrova or Powerdrive or the new Motorguide Xi5.
