Hi,

Thinking about heading out this Sunday fishing. Don't have a boat, so it'd need to be shore fishing. Leaving from Calgary. I'm a bit experienced, however I'll be bringing some people who are eager, but are total newbies. Trying to talk them into heading out before 10 am....

Can anyone suggest a good body of water to try? I'm thinking Spray Lakes might be nice, if not too windy. Preferred fish would be trout :)

Barrier lake is accessible, but I've had zero luck there. Did see someone pull out some whitefish last time I was there.

Thanks guys!

Ghost lake.. looks kind of tempting. Not too far, trout, open all year. I've never fished there before.

Thoughts on this time of year?

What's the lakes looking like out your way?
I was at Fairfax lake today and the ice was a good 10m from the bank and about 1" thick. Would be hard to fish from the bank (I took my kayak and got one small trout). With the weather forecast this weekend I think the open water is over out my way.
