Great Lota lota!

Looks like a familiar spot, I've heard that's a great spot for Burbs before but I have yet to pull one outta there (if it's the spot I'm thinking it is).

Thanks for posting pictures, looks like some tasty booty.

A variety.

From smelts to sardines to mackerels to herring and milkfish.

Not sure it really matters.

Big baits do help keep the small ones off, and a big burb can eat whatever it wants.

In the past yes.

I am no longer permitted to cook burb liver indoors.

I have a fishing buddy I donate them to now.

Similar to beef or pork liver? How do you cook them, or use to... I always thought burbs are a healthy fish to eat, given the liver is a 3rd of their mass.

Cut into thin strips and cook on medium/high heat.

The liver is mostly made of oil, so the strips will fry in their own oil.

Season with salt and pepper and put on crackers or toast if they last that long.

Yikes. I don't like having anything to do with burbs at the best of times, they freak me out lol, but just thinking about eating burb liver turns my stomach.

Depending on the water body, I'd be concerned about mercury content too.

There is no data available on Hg, however, even published values for AB for other species are no worse than what you get at the grocery store or the sushi restaurant.

One of these beastly burbs was caught by sight fishing within 6 feet of the shore. That was pretty cool.

Be careful with the liver if it comes from a lake with Blue Green algae. The toxin concentrates in the liver and can last there for extended periods.
