They had them on the shelf at The Fishin Hole in Calgary when I was in there yesterday. I'd suggest going down there and talking to those guys, they'll get you set up right.

They'll ship it too if you're not in town.

WSS sells them for around $500-$600. Good units. Pros and cons for gas, propane and the ions. Nice thing about the ions is the lack of noise pollution and how light they are! Cooler temperatures drain the battery pretty quick and replacement batteries may be a pricey headache. Also, if run out of juice your hooped until you cant get to an outlet.

How long is the recovery time on a re-charge? ( I have a 110v outlet in my truck)

I assume you get about 20 holes cuts out of 18"-24" of ice? Is that typical?

I've never timed the charging time before..

Regarding the number of holes, their site advertises 40 holes in 24" of ice.

According to the web site, charging takes about 2 1/2 hours to fully recharge a dead battery.

hey HF.
saw the electric ones at wholesale sports last night for $600 i think.
if i were you i'd talk to them about xmas, boxing day, nye sales....could be well worth it to wait a month....also, in the past fishin hole has matched competitors' prices if you bring in a flyer from bass outfitters etc.
GOOD LUCK. they are awesome!!!!

I just got off the phone with the Ion Parts people, the inverter on your truck would need to be 1200 watts. Not sure if your truck 110 is 1200 watts or not but you should check and be sure. I would also think that running your truck for 2.5 hours to charge your battery once will take more fuel than a gas auger in a whole season.

You might also want to read the review below, quite in lighting about how it works in the cold unless you keep the battery warm.

Or you could buy a spare battery, I did. Even if I could only get 60 holes between the 2 batteries would be enough for me.

Sounds like you guys would be doing more drilling than fishing:scared0018:

Taking a few seconds to remove the battery and bring it into your tent is a very effective (and cost effective) way to make sure you don't have any issues resulting from a cold battery.

The more and more I read about the ion makes me want one. I usually only drill 12 holes a trip at the most. Thinking its time to get a ion but keep the Eskimo as a back up or just for when I need the larger 10 inch hole
