Had an ok first day on the Ice for the season, Went to Wab around 8 , Was seeing pike on the cam within 10 minutes, two Bites on my buddy's rod, Then things slowed down for an hour or so, Still seeing lots on the cam , Again Slowed down till about 2:30 and then picked up again with a few more bites !

Some Spots had lots of flood water, Some spots had none !

Had 5 Hits on my Tip Ups ,I Only managed to land one 36 " Pike Though

Overall Slow day, but still a fun day on the Ice !

~2 weeks ago by the townsite there was around 5" of ice, with the bottom 2" being good clear stuff and the top 3" being white garbage ice.

Flooding has likely turned some of the snow into more crappy white ice, but it's also gotta be forming some good clear stuff underneath by now.

Still gonna be a couple more weeks til it's safe to drive on by town methinks, though I'm sure some meathead will be out there pushing their luck sooner

As we walked out, There would be spots where you were walking and would sink 4" into the iced up Floodwater, and then you would hit some solid spots,

But we drilled about 10 - 15 Holes on our way out and it was Average 4-6" Of white Ice and 2" of Black Ice

Lots of flood water on one hole, 30 Feet Over , No Flood Water, Lots of the flood water has been freezing good,

Still, even if the ice does freeze up good, All that crap snow on top will make it very hard to drive on for most folks !

I think this year is gonna be one of the worst years in the past few for Ice Conditions,

3 years ago at wab I needed an auger extension, last year about 2 feet by now, and this year its been cold, but the snow may have ruined any good ice for us This year

Careful on the south side of the lake by any weeds along shore as there is only an inch of ice and a full blown running river. Don't test your luck.

I really never go to the southside of the lake, However, I do know some great spots over there !
