Jesse34567 new this spring, calgary boat show, my last boat was a canoe with 30lb thrust motor. Feel much safer on rough water with this one.To some of the other members, when should I stop putting it in the water and winterize it this year? I have no clue as I am new to this.

Nice tubs Dark, dig the deep welded looks like she could handle some water..

Jorg those Trophy's are some good old boats still one of my favs.. I just about bought the 20ft walk around when I bought the Lund but chose the Lund for its seating capacity it suits our family needs a little better at this time. In a couple years we are going to look at them again and I am leaning towards the 26ft walk around or similar boat in a Grady or Pusuit.. But I love that style of boat they are definate big water tubs..

Here is my machine! This beast has over .05 HP!!! Impervious to rocks! Handles winds up 80-90kph! No need for an anchor! Can be fueled with just beer and beans!!!

Lol, sigh...Can't wait to have my own boat. My dream would be a 14ft PVC inflatable with a 30hp jet motor...I will revisit this thread and post that day!!

Ya walleyes we had it out for 2wks in bella bella it was nice, handled the big water very well. I have been fishing the coast out of my old 18 fter for years, but this was the first year I never had to wear my rain gear on the boat for the whole trip. The aluminum roof can be a pain when fighting those big chinook that like to circle the boat but I sure like the staying dry part, plus I carry my zodiac on top.

Redman, the boat was used I bought it off a cowboy in Quesnell BC he had it custom made so he could wear his cowboy hat HAHA 6'6" head room throughout. New your looking at 50 to 60K used about half. Cost to fill the tank on the west coast $750.00 but he had extra tanks installed so it holds 100 gallons. The motor is a 4.3litre 6 cylinder she does 37 mph with a 19 pitch prop probley get 40mph out of it with a 21 pitch. Sure is nice dropping the anchor and spending the night at my walleye hole.

Heres my boats. The first one is my 12 foot aluminum, an old Simpson Sears named affectionately The Slough Shark. She handles everything from puddle jumpin sloughies, to pot hole bows with a transom mount electric to ducks over floater decoys. Basically gophers to grizzly's, shes seen er all, including afew near misses, and one incident that near finished us off.... Been a great little boat. Life just wouldnt be worth living without her!
The Lund is the new rig, yet old at the same time?? Havent had her long, but she seems like she will cut the mustard, probuably wouldnt take much though, the mustard is watered down and weak, and im easy to please! Was sure a pleasure to fish out of, until I started seeing how a real boat is supposed to be set up. Gonna be a new breath of life breathed into her in the upcoming winter months, cant wait to fish outa the finished product!

Well i was looking forward to ice fishing, but finally bought my dream boat and can't wait for the ice to melt. Hopefully have a few rod benders/breakers this summer. Special thank-you to 2430M for the help with the pictures!!!:D

Not bad, where did you pick her up?

Here's a pic of the newest member of the family ! Unforetunatly I don't have any really good pics - almost all of them were taken from the inside looking out at the various chinook , coho and hali's we took this year.
2008 Northriver seahawk; 21foot plus 2 foot transom extension, 150 plus 8 hp yamaha's with remote steering, 8.5 foot beam. The cover top with comepletly open back make it a dream to fish out of on those very wet- sunny - wet days up in the Charlottes. The wide beam and high sides make it very comfortable on those rough sea days. Four built in fish boxes keep the space open for fishing not coolers. As most of our fishing is done within 15-20 min of the ramp at Masset it might be a bit of overkill : but we sure like it. :)

The pic of the fish was the first mornings catch out of it this year!

Are you guys going back up to Massett next summer??

Might see you out there.
Were you guys staying out at Hidden Island campsite?

Not bad, where did you pick her up?

It was a repo out of Ontario, and a guy from Quebec picked it up and i got it from him. It is a 2006 with less than 70hr's on it. He sent me the original bill of sale and it was 62,000 with ont tax, so by right's 58,000. I got it for 27,000 with taxes included. A little more than what i wanted to spend but like i said it has been my dream boat and usually don't see to many of these for sale to choose from.

Had another deal on one that was from Keith Kajaez from the Next Bite TV show and trackers pro team. There is 6 pro's that get 2 boats each from tracker, they sell the first one from factory and deck the second one out for their tourny's. I was getting his tourny boat for 42,000 and it would of appraised here for close to 75-80,000 dollars. That was when our dollar was abit more than their's, but by time i committed and got the banking started our dollar went in the toilet. It was dropping fast and hard and with-in a week or so it put the boat out of my reach. Actually my boat is on it's way and should be in my driveway tonight or tomorrow morning. Can't wait to see her. First thing i am going to say to it is "Who's your daddy" or "Who's your captain" haha

Hi Rigg Dogg
Yup I'm going back for the month of July and then again for 2 weeks in the fall.
I'm with you on the catch size . We get a couple springs around 30 each year but most are 20 and under. The halibut are only 10-20 for the most part but we get lots . They're even better now that we've got it dialed in how to get them trolling with salmon gear! My next door neighbor had his neice out last year in August and she picked up a 52 her first morning!!! I've been trying to do that for ten years up there !
I've never stayed at Hidden Island but I've had a few beers and fish'n chips there. We have one of the army houses sold off in the 90's. It's a 4 bedroom 2 bath that my father in law picked up and we've since bought of the family. We've been spending part of each summer up there since '97. I go back in the fall for the blacktails and some river fishing .
I'll keep an eye out for your Grady (awesome boats) next year. Whats her name?

I like your taste in boats Tbosch !! You will not be disapointed . Very good idea to go with the upgraded top. Well worth the extra $$
Walleye my northriver handles big water great . I've crossed the straight of georgia to galiano island easily and used it off the north end of the charlottes
in a variety of weather . The engine mount off the transom gives almost 2 feet
extra length and the wide beam (96 in) makes this boat very stable . This is hard to get in a boat that you can tow with a V-6 Tacoma ! The 150 yamaha combined with the 8hp make fuel costs almost a non concern again . We got 6 full days off 1/2 tank of gas this year!:)

Yeah they are a beautiful boat. I'm hoping my buddy decides to chane to a flats boat now that he's in florida and sell me his. It's identical to the one in the picture. I've been up the fraser and the harrison in it and a few other newer "lighter" models and they can't compare to the stength of those north rivers.

After talking back and forth with members of this forum about repowering my old boat and still having an old boat with a new motor I started looking at new boats. I did not plan on going with as fancy boat but what the heck we only live once. This boat was used by a tourny fisherman for one year.
She is a Lund Model 1950 Tyee with a 200 hp, Virado and a 9.9 kicker the kicker is all controled from the cockpit, electric start, speed, forward and reverse, and power tilt. It has the optional captains chairs and all of the seats have air ride. Because it is the 60 th anaversary model it has every option you can think of , stand up top, smart gauges, 2 livewells, 2 bildge pumps, upgraded stereo, etc etc. I want to thank the members of this forum for their advise to look at new boats. Because I now have the boat of my dreams.
My crew and I are heading to Reindeer lake the end of June and this rig is perfect for the bigger water.

And Doug H. do not worry this rig does not make me any better fishermen so your wife will still out fish me.

You have a famous boat. It's been on TV on the In-Fisherman Professional Walleye Trail TV program and was used to win first place the the CanAM Pro AM PWT in Dryden Ontario on Lake Wabigoon. Maybe some of the big fish luck will rub off on you guys. Nice boat! Chris K

Chris K, Thanks for the info. That is very interesting. I am a firm believer in luck and as you said hopefully some of it will rub off on us.
From your previos threads it sounds like you fish tournaments. Is it a weekend thing for you? Or do you do it full time? How long have you been doing that and do you make any money at it or is it for fun? I have often thought about trying one or two out for fun. Any comments?

Walleyes, I did alot of research on different boats, motors etc I think that the Lund is top of the line. You pay a little for the name but when you look at the construction and details of the boat ( some of which you don't see until you get it home) they are a step ahead of the competition. This boat will service me well for a long time to come and I should not need to upgrade.

Doug H. I think the next time we are out together we should have our own private tourny. Maybe even put a little money on it. The only problem is we will have to hire a official to keep you honest because I know how you like to tell fish stories. Then again you may just want to hand me the prize money before we start to save yourself the embarassment? I would understand.

Hey Fishincrazy, nice boat! My brother has the same boat and it is a dream to fish out of. A word of advice on the trailer skirt/rock screen. The aluminum vertical stakes that hold the netting will fatigue in the wind eventually and begin to fold inward toward the boat. You don't want the flapping netting to touch your boat when this happens as it will wear the finish. My advice is to beef up these supports before this happens. I did this on my brothers boat.

When I purchased mine last year there was an option of two different grades of aluminum stakes, regular and heavy duty. He advised me to pay the few $$$ more and go with the heavy duty ones due to the height and length of my Tux. I'm glad I did. You also have to make sure you keep the Tux tight, if it gets loose, the buffeting action of the wind will wear out anything over a period of time.

You should have your brother call Bob at Trailer Tux and explain the problem, I'd be amazed if he wouldn't help you out with that. His customer service is second to none.

I fish from 10 to 12 tournaments a year, mostly in Alberta and Saskatchewan, but sometimes in the states or other provinces to the east as well. I have fished some Professional Walleye Trail and FLW events in the past, and depending on my schedule and when tournaments are I will continue to do so in the future. I have been fishing tournaments since 1999 and I have a few sponsors that I work with as well. I don't do this to make money, as it's pretty much impossible to do, I just enjoy it and do it for fun. Don't get me wrong, I like to win, but I like the competition and the comraderie of it as well and I am always learning about my favourite fish, the walleye. I do some writing and sell some photographs, and attend a bunch of boat shows in the winter helping dealers sell boats. As well I also put on an Angler Young Angler Fishing Tournament on Beaver Lake out of Lac La Biche. It's an event that consists of a one day mini walleye tournament with one adult and two kids 17 and under, and for 2009 there are 29 of these events across Canada and the United States. If you want to fish a tournament or two, I encourage you to try it out. In Alberta there are some good events and new boats are always welcome, but some events fill up really fast and you need to get an entry form and send it in the day after they are put out. If you have anymore questions, don't hesitate to ask. Chris K

With tillers going the way of the dinosaur, I picked up one of these little beauties. Sadly, it's the last model year for them. It seems everyone wants a bare bones tiller or a boat with a console. I wanted a bit of luxury with a tiller. It's getting harder to find.

I'm not big on posting personal info to the internet at any time, and as a rule, I don't post pics on the net, but that's not why I blurred the face. That's not me in the pic, and I have no right to post other people's faces on the internet.

With tillers going the way of the dinosaur, I picked up one of these little beauties. Sadly, it's the last model year for them. It seems everyone wants a bare bones tiller or a boat with a console. I wanted a bit of luxury with a tiller. It's getting harder to find.

Not entirely true my friend, Tillers are coming on stronger and stronger and with the lund you can get about 5 or 6 models outside of the Pro-vs that are loaded with all kinds of options my 2010 predator has everything a Pro-V has including double plated hull and the only difference is no big gunnels on the side actually more room!

Sorry, most manufacturers are cutting back on tiller models. Yes, there are still a few around but not like there was 10 years ago. Tillers are most definitely not coming on stronger. Lund is one of the few manfacturers that offers more than one or two models.

So this Sunday and Monday the weather is looking pretty killer. The fishing in and around Jackson Hole is pretty blown out right now so I was wondering what is fishing well within a few hour drive. Is there anything worth a drive to wade in the some water? I promise to post a short TR. Im just tweaking to get out again.

Entirely true my friend! I qoute "Crestliner has now put hemselves in position to create a tiller model because of increasing tiller sales!

and how about: Yar craft(4 models)
ranger(3 models)
lund(7 models)
warrior(4 models)
princecraft(2 models)
Tracker still has problem putting good boats together and do not offer a tournament tiller!
mirro craft(2 models)
alumnicraft(4 models)
So as you can see the proof is in the pudding!

this is my Dad's 2009 1925 Harbercraft Adventure, this was one of the last boats to be welded up in sylvan lake before they consolidated the operation in BC. sports a 115hp 4 stroke Yamaha and 6hp kicker. lowrance HDS 5 GPS/Sonar Combo, Sony Stereo. Harbercraft was generous enough to modify the paint scheme to My Dad's preference, and the interior seating was modified to meet my Mom's expectations. it has an extended length Bench on the port side, and a beer cooler seat on the starboard side. the cooler seat can be removed to make room for my Daughters playpen. My Dad had custom cushions built to completely cover the bow. that's the place where the girls go.

I am still rocking the old 14 ft lund with 20hp 2 stroke Johnson with a happy kicker trolling plate and a 30lb minkota kicker. . this boat has plywood floor, and the middle bench removed to make more room for the greasy pike. we are using the clamp on fishin buddy fish finder, and the trusty handheld GPS for marking the holes.

i have about $125,000.00 in everything . That includes $6000.00 in professional blueprints, electronics, paint and everything else. I hired a porfessional to do all my wiring and electronics. I think his bill be about $10,000.00 for labor. I shopped around quite abit and this boat with all the options I have was going to cost around $180,000.00. So I ended up saving quite a bit. If I were to build another one it would be quite abit cheaper. I would save $6,000.00 on blueprints and about $2500.00 on the jig I built for shaping the hull. Plus it would take much less time.

Yes it's do able, but I try to avoid it. It amazing really, when I'm meandering through the camp ground loops, and then remember I got all that behind me.
It's 64' total length, legal (in Alberta) is about 65'. Fortunately the boat is light enough to push around by hand on level ground.:)

13' whaler waiting for salmon season. My Johnson isn't as big as some of the others here, but it's never let me down.

@ Mike W

Pretty sure you can find a back rack like Traders that's in store.

Found something similar

Picked this shack up this summer and been out for 8 days this year so far. It was really nice fishing sunday morning at 7am with the kids when it was -20 outside. Started the generator and crawled inside.

With lack of snow I parked the jet sled in the garage and hauled the gear out on the quads trailer. Worked like a dream

You have to drive in 4X4 all the time with a year like this with no snow but if there is snow then its two wheel drive. Got the shack from NashCar Trailers out of Michigan.
