Great Trip to Cabo with the Wife & Kid. Got up early a few days and walked up to a rocky area to fish. Brought a 4 piece travel rod, which was by no means a Surf Rod, chucked some 3 oz lures hoping for some Seirra but no luck. Had my Fly Rod as well and got lots of little Jacks, nothing big though, also got some "Tortilla Fish" which are pretty cool looking fish. Had 3 Skip Jack Tuna hit my Baitfish Streamers, super strong fish they were all in the 5-10lb range. the first one ran so hard my fly line sliced my hand, smoked my drag on my reel, and he ended up breaking my braid on Leader loop with my only steel leader... lol. I didn't get any to Shore.

Booked the Bob Marlin on the 3rd and had a Great day. Hooked 3 Marlin, the first one was 150-180lbs and went absolutely nuts, the captain said he counted 15 jumps, he stayed really close to the boat and we kept the Drag light trying to let him get some distance. He ended up getting the line wrapped around his Bill and broke us off after 20-30 minutes, he was hooked right in the lip, so im sure he will be fine. Second one only jumped a couple times then stayed deep taking big runs. was 40+minute fight to get him to the boat. We had to keep him as he was hooked bad and bleeding alot. We used a really light set up on these fish and with 40lb floro and braid, so was quite the work out. Last one Pulled the Hook...Got 3 nice Dorado as well all around 30lbs. Great day on the Water!

Awesome... my friends being trying to get us to go for the last couple of years with them, but I like the Caribbean side... I know the fishing is awesome there in Cabo. Might have to go down for a fishing vacation like you had. Looks spectacular.

Enjoy! Heard they were a solid outfit as well. if they dont provide live bait, Make sure to get some! we hooked all the Marlin on bait, one hit when trolling but picked him off with the bait. they seem to like the Bonito's the best.

Had a great time in Cabo last winter. Caught some big striped marlin on 20lb line, dorado, skippies, groupers and more. But the most fun really was the surfcasting. Saw lots of whales, porpoises, and turtles. Had fun with Poncho (and his buddies) too.

Have some video here: http://youtu.be/HemIhIDWbgY

You need to do a morning with Wes at Cabosurfcaster (https://www.facebook.com/cabosurfcaster) if you can.

For the boat, I went with Protocol Sportfishing (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Protocol-Sport-Fishing/102687059793704) and they were great.

Ya i joined his page on Facebook and was considering getting ahold of him when i was there, but only had a couple hours in the mornings to go so wasn' t really worth it. He definately gets into some nice fish! If i was on the pacific side i probably could have got into some Sierra.. Heard they were getting them! Its always fun to do a little trial and error exploring anyway! I can usually get something to bite

Yep, that's totally what I would usually do. But only had the one day to try surf casting. Great job with the fly rod though. Must have been a hoot with those Skippies.

Nice Sierra BTW!

Thanks. We got a few. I brought a cooler full of Sierra and Dorado home as my carry on. :)

ya felt bad keeping the one, but he was pretty much done by the time we got him to the boat, dont think he would have made er... one of the down sides of using the light tackle. Atleast he went to good use, the crew said they trade it and give it to their neighbours that need it. They made me some Marlin Civeche with a piece of his loin as well! Was so Gooood! http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t485/shortsvm/IMG_11681_zpsdb0c4e64.jpg
