I got these lures but haven't used them much and could use some pointers.

When/where/how/what for etc

Wait until the ice is almost gone, find a floater and cast from it. Better replace those trebles with some fresh barbed ones.:sHa_shakeshout:

Great Pike lures,

I love to jig the hell out of them for a minute then leave it dead sticked for a few minutes

If there's active pike in the area they can't resist coming over to see what the commotion is

Pound the Bottom then lift a foot or two and deadstick for a min and repeat.

the vibration and rattle will bring all species into the area you're fishing. just rip them vertically

The rattle is ridiculous. You can hear it at 25fow.

I like to rip the ever-loving $#!t out of them with a deadstick presentation nearby. Then I can figure out if the fish want aggressive or catatonic. it'll certainly attract attention.

Is that the 20cm long model?

Not sure I have any SS 30/0 trebles on hand.

i don't use them for very long, just to call in the fish.
they are very loud - you can drill a hole so water can get in and muffle the rattle

I wonder if you layed it on the bottom and twitched it a bit, if that would look tempting to a fish...
It might look like a dying minnow as well as kicking up a bit of sediment which ive read lately can attract them.

Im thinking pike trout walleye, probably others... as long as those are sinking lures.

Hit the lake. Drill hole. Rattle the lure for a minute or so. Drop your hook in the water. BAM!!!!

Or I could fill it with fish oil.

i always throw it on but never catch anything. Trout and burbs.

I could see pike and walleye going crazy over it

if fishing is slow I will pull up my tipup line and rattle the crap out of the hole for a minute or so, then drop the bait back down, unless you have to bring the pike in first :sHa_shakeshout: may want to have a tight grip on your rod while rattling it. the lure that is.

Lots of rippin and bouncing off the bottom. Have caught some nice pike and walleye on them. To tell you the truth there are better lures to use through the ice though like the cicada in my oppinion. Good luck let us know how you do on them.

Yep, on the trout. The burb only seem to like meat! Caught several trout on my regular lakes with those. Just drop to the bottom jig for about 10s then bring them up fairly quick to the surface.

My favorite floating crankbaits are cotton cordell and the price of them is very nice too.

Back on thread,,, if you found some nice deep water, a long heavy action rod and jigged them hard (as in letting it sink till the rod tip is at the hole, then one steady lift so you can feel it frfrfrfrfrfrfrfrrrrrr, you'd get onto some bigguns).

1) Replace back treble with two split rings (in line like a chain)
2) add a Blade at the back on the second split ring
3) leave front treble in place.
4) Pinch Barbs ....lol .... sorry I couldn't resist

jig it like a mad mad and bounce it off the sand ...... the weight off the back makes it dart around and occasionally entices a cautious fish.

Haha. I've told that story numerous times!

Just looking for more tips.

Was that how you normally do it ??

Everything works based on activity of fish . With pike if there on you cant be aggressive enough. Walters will rip in and then watch for five min then maybe .... take a dead stick minnow. Banging on bottom will bring in semi active fish getting them to bite becomes the challenge. Ime change up size ,noise and technique every 30 min till species or a fish shows a preference . Stop often and controlled decent is usually the trigger. J/k on the previous post .
