I want to purchase a short barrel 410 or 20 gauge shotgun or a .22 rifle to carry in the box of my quad while I'm quadding. I would like something 34 inches or shorter that can withstand a little beating while on the trail. Can anyone recommend a manufacturer and model number...that is fairly inexpensive. Thanks

I have an IGA backpacker .410. Tiny little thing, easily fits in quad box. Takes out grouse quite effectively. Paid 150.00 brand-new a couple of years ago.

Well not a 20 but a 12 at Cabela's (SIR). Mossberg 500 combo 28 and 18.5 barrells. $250. A whack of aftermarket parts to boot.

I use a 410/45colt. It works very well on grouse and with the right loads takes deer down out a 100 yard with no trouble at all. I paid under $200 and its short and tough it works great and is just a lot of fun to shoot.

What do you want the gun for? What is the purpose? What game you are looking for would help.

You are creating all sorts of noise and fumes, and you can travel really really fast. You can't be thinking griz defence, as your likelihood of winning the 649 is about 1000 times higher. ;)

Thanks for all the help. I purchased a Savage .22 bolt action cub from Wholesale Sports today. It is only a single shot, but I just using it to hunt grouse. I just have to make my first shot count. This rifle fits nicely in the box of my Quad. Again thanks for information.
