Hi everyone,

I stumbled on this message board a couple days ago and this is my 2nd post. Great board!

I went out to buy a decent ice fishing shelter in Calgary today and discovered they are hard to come by. Apparently, Canadian Tire and Wholesale Sports have yanked the Frabill shelters from shelves due to their failure to comply with some kind of Canadian fire material/retardent proper labelling warnings. The employees at the stores thinks a few of the other manufacturers might be affected as well (Clam, etc.)

Anyone else had problems or have any more info on this? I'd be willing to order a shelter direct from the manufacture but I was warned Canada Customs might stop it from crossing the border. Anyone want to sell or know where I can buy a Clam or Frabill shelter?

Thx!

Geoff

yup, some idiot apparently almost burnt down his tent and killed himself. so now they are doing what youve said and ive also heard that they may try to ban the tents(this isnt 100% correct info at all, just rumours)

if worst comes to worst...just go down to the states to buy em

A staff member at Wholesale Sports in Edmonton told me it was because the huts were only printed with English and not French. For example, my tent says "Frabill Arctic Armor" and "Outback", with no French in sight(gasp!). Whether this guy was just spouting off, or whether he actually knows something, your guess is as good as mine.

He may have a point, since official bilingualism reared it's ugly head we've been denied access to many products simply because the Canadian market isn't big enough to warrant the added expense. Fire ratings may be it though. Anything on the Eskimo brand apart from the name being non PC?

Do we still accept Quebec as part of Canada....(Or should I say "Do You?")

For me, the question is becoming "Do I still accept Alberta as part of Canada?(or should I say"Do I want Alberta to stay part of Canada?)"
