The automatic fisherman is the same setup and better quality. You can buy them at wholesale sports.

I can fit four of them in my backpack and all my tackle boxes for ice fishing. Really compact, light weight but durable. Works great. Really like this product. I've made a bunch of videos with them and people are always asking where I got them. I bought mine online. But I asked the company where to get them if possible in Canada. This is their reply.

There are 3 stores in Canada that sell the JawJacker and they will also ship inside Canada so people can save on shipping. They are:

Tru Bite Tackle & Snags
763 Lakeview Rd
Laird, Ontario p0s1c0
Phone: (705)248-2258
Will Ship inside Canada

Chippewa Trading Post
1332 Great Northern Rd.
Sault Ste. Marie Ontario P6BOB3
Phone: (705)759-4518
Will Ship inside Canada

Preeceville Archery Products
33 2nd Avenue NE
Preeceville, SK SOA3BO
Phone: (306)547-3133
Will Ship inside Canada

Hope that helps. I think it works very similar tho the automatic fisherman, but this one is so much more compact as far as I can see from the pictures. I've never actually held an automatic fisherman though. I know they are easier to get in Edmonton. Supposedly the company has signed with some Canadian distributor and they may even show up in Canadian Tire next year.

$108 to the door…. did that include duty/tax?

I emailed the guy in Laird Ont. he just ordered more ( he was out ) and sells them for $41.99 each ( which is the same as the jaw jacker site for $37.99 US ) shipping from Ont was approx $30 and it was approx $30 US shipping from the website. Calculating the cost, the best option maybe to call the dealer in Sask. and get them there as shipping was approx. $13.00 so half the cost ( canada post website and guestimate on size of box)…. either way I think they are pretty pricey!!

Pricey depends on your point of view I guess. That's about the cost of a bottle of whiskey and less than dinner out.

Coming from the guy who paid $80 for something to alert them if they have a bite via their phone... Lol. :)

I wouldn't use em but could see how they'd be helpful, if they worked. I think I'd rather build my own of I were to use em though- way less money to build and you have no one else to blame of it fails.

Used the jawjacker today for the first time. Worked great.nice hook sets, the fish never swallowed the hook so removal was very easy. My 3 year old put his first fish on the ice with it today. We both could not be happier..

Those of you who have used the jawjacker, how much tension are you putting on your drag? I used my jawjacker on the weekend, and missed a fair number of hook sets so Im wondering what everyone else is doing drag wise.

Your drag should not slip if you hold the line in the jaw jacker and set it off. That way you get a good set. Also use small lures make sure hook horizontal an point facing up so hooks roof of mouth. Not too much bait or they may just get the bait. If all else fails watch my JawJacker modification video.

I have 2 jawjackers - purchased them boxing day online with some xmas $$. I really like them, they are well thought out and well designed. Took a bit of practice at home to figure out the right setup for my ice rod length (because I didn't read the instructions LOL) but on the ice these things are great. I bought them directly from the jawjacker website and they arrived in short order.

They are very compact and easy to stow and carry when put away, and I believe they are rugged enough to last for years.

are there maximum size rods that can be put on the jawjacker? I want to use it for lake trout and pike. something heavier and long

BassDude
02-18-2014, 01:29 PM
what length of rod are you using? I wouldn't think there would be any issue with ice rod length and there are 6 or 7 length adjustment holes....

HuyFishin

I actually haven't decided what rod I would be using, since the jawjackers are not available in Canada at the moment(sold out), I have to preorder and wait till November 2014 to get one. I bought this rod last week and tried it out recently, and it feels like you're fishing with a pool cue http://www.cabelas.ca/product/14869/ht-ice-blue-trout-rods

I would imagine I cant use this with the jaw jacker

36 inch medium/heavy is perfect for lakers or pike ! U might think the rod is going to break but it doesn't. Keep out the way when your playing with it to adjust tension because it will hurt you !
