pk flutter spoon with or without a dropper. Next to that ifs the smallest rapala jig topped with either maggots meal worms or shiners. I also have had good luck using a thumper jig with a full minnow, keeps the little guys off the hook. Or in the summer I will use a pickerel tig with a weight on the bottom and leeches.

1/4 ounce Red jig head, full size white jig body (power bait style) with the tail torn off. Baited with a Meal Worm, keeps the small ones off. Reason why I fish with big baits is the lake we fish has Perch to 14-15 inches. There is a 5 limit there 1 over 12" the rest have to be under 12. Always bring a tape measure and select pick. Kimowan lake it right on the Saskatchewan border.

High quality short shank hook ie owner Palamred 6-12" above any lure of sufficient wt for depth. Choose a minnow of size suitable for expected perch size . On lakes with little or no bait fish 1"of worm or a few maggots will do the charm .

Back in the day before jigs and other fancy hooks we used bacon fat to catch the first ones then used the eyes out of them on a single hook. Never had a dull moment. I will not say how many we caught in a day as it wii start a whole new discussion. Piker

1 1/2 inch Northland puppet minnow, Gold or Glow chub colour. No bait attached as it kills the action.

If they are not committing to the puppet minnow a Hali jig with a fake maggot will usually pick them off.

Use light line, fluorocarbon leader and a soft action rod. You may get sawed off by bigger pike or walleye but you can buy replacements if needed.

My best hook for perch/stocked rainbow is a Lindy chartreuse techni glow bug(horizontal) 1/16th. That's another nice thing about fishing for whites is omatter what worm I'm using for whites the perch always seem to like it too. Kinda like pike and walleye.

2.5 or 3 inch silver Williams Wabler with 4 inch dropper to a # 10 treble that has a .25 inch pearl from a kids necklace epoxied into the crotch of the hook. No bait. Jig it a few times and let hang still. They grab the pearl as soon as it stops moving.

Definitely my hook choice. If allowed I hook a small minnow thru the head.

Thanks for the destination suggestion. Haven't been up that country in far too long.

Have any pics? Sounds interesting. I've always liked the drop Chain idea. They always go for the bottom hook on a jigging rap.

I've had excellent success recently in BC with the following:
6' 4# fluorocarbon leader with a #10 Gamatzu octopus into a small lemon or chartuese (I cannot spell that due to an active man card) salted tube body. Place a small 1/16 oz split shot 8" above to tube.
Don't jig it violently; raise it slowly 10" and then drop it quickly with a 10 second pause. The hook up almost always happens as you begin to raise it again.
You can add a maggot if they seem reluctant.

Thanks. I cheated a bit. Those are Ontario fish.

Top picture is a 16 inch fish from Rice Lake.
Bottom two are 15.5 on right and a 16.5 inch pig from Lake Simcoe. Almost a double header on those two for my buddy and I while sight fishing in 12 feet of water. He caught the bigger one.
No photoshop required.:love0025:

Nothing wrong with the 13 inch fish. Good perch anywhere.
