My brother and I are looking to invest in a underwater cam - please share your experiences and suggest which model you might select. I'm running an LX-7 sonar - pretty much fish all species in southern AB. From Spray Lakes to Newell Lake, Pike to Whiteys to trout and perch.....what might you suggest for a camera setup? Any ones to avoid? Thinking of staying with marcum based on my sonar experience but open to input.....thanks!!

I have the MARCUM 825vs with the panner. The 8" color or black/white screen is bright, crystal clear and high resolution.

The battery last all day long even in the longest days out on the ice and it's bright enough to use outside on a sunny day like yesterday.

If you can swing it in your budget - get this unit - you won't be disappointed.

why not upgrade your your lx7 to a 9?

I got the marcum vs385 it's black and white but works great clear picture and battery easily lasts a day never tried to stretch it two I just charge it after every trip.

The conversion to lx-9 in an interesting option, I wonder what the impact on battery life is, and something tells me having a separate unit might be desirable when fishing in groups or with kids.

I'm going to suggest the Vexilar FishPhone. I love mine, and for multiple anglers everyone can have their own screen. Plus if you are in a permanent you can video out to a larger screen at the same time as each portable screen.

Light, portable with great battery life and picture quality.

I bought the new Aqua-Vu V715c color camera, comes with a 7" flat panel screen, with av connector to hook into a larger monitor/tv. The color and sharpness are not bad and the battery last for at least 8hrs.
I ordered directly from Aqua-Vu on a Tuesday and it arrived on the Thursday, couldn't believe how fast it shipped (free shipping) and no taxes, there was however a $16.00 brokerage fee.
Go to the Aqua-Vu site and check it out.

I got the lx 9. Marcum blows them all out of the water.

I have an aqua view quad cam and was thoroughly disappointed with it after the first trip out. Battery lasts max 2 hours. Great view coverage however. Fish tv in my opinion is best bang for buck camera

be sure to check the Marcum lense cover before you leave the store. I bought the 625 in December and the camera lense cover cracked after a couple of trips. Replaced it with the Marcum 825 This January and when i brought the unit home the lense cover on the camera was allready cracked! never even got to use it....very dissapointing.

The vexilar fish phone was mentioned. How does it perform in deeper water? Hoping to use it on cold lake some time.

The fish phone cord is 50 feet long. Deepest I've had mine was 30 feet and it was pretty sweet.

Mine will never collect dust. Would never go without them. You will learn more with a camera than a flasher.(but how much depends on species somewhat and fishing style). Those that don't have one or don't use it are missing the boat.:)
