Hey guys,

Bored at work, just wanted to share, I landed my PB laker @ Grist lake over the weekend, fishing was very tough, in 2 days I only landed 2 fish, but of the two I caught I landed this beauty pictured below! Not as big as the tanks that come off Cold Lake but still my PB and I'm proud! lol

She measured 33.5" and had a 18" girth, I did not have a scale to weigh her, took her measurements, snapped a couple quick photos and released her to be caught again! If any of you have a guess to what she may have weighed let me hear it, we figured between 12-14 lbs and online with her measurements she came in @ 13.6 lbs

And yes! I am holding her out away from my body, that is how I like to take my pictures, if you don't like it, to bad.

Cheers guys!

Based on the pictures, as you noted with the outstretched arm - it looks like it's 106 lbs HOWEVER based on your measurements ......... your estimate is probably pretty close 12-14lbs.

Very nice Laker ........ good job

Thanks guys, it was a really tough bite, so it was such a great feeling of accomplishment to land her! this is my 3rd year going to Grist but the first year we were clueless on where to fish so we only managed 4 lakers on a one day trip, went back 2012 in the fall, marked some spots on the gps, but again still only managed 4 fish... went back Feb 2013 and could not get to our spots due to the slush on the lake. I got skunked that trip... So this year with the beautiful weather we had and no slush on the lake we had no excuses! Our group only managed two fish on day one so I was a little worried, but we got off to a much better start day two, landing 9 in the morning, and after the morning bite slowed down we decided to move to where we were the day before and it paid off! She bite in 50 ft of water, a few inches off the bottom and put up one hell of a fight! I've caught large pike and walleye through the ice but this was by far my favourite fight! I can't wait when the day comes and I get to wrestle with a true monster laker! One day.

Driving to the lake the roads were fine, a little chewed up on the way out cause of the warm weather but really not an issue. There is not allot of snow on the lake, you could drive with a truck, the only slush we ran into was in front of the lodge, but getting over the snow banks around the ice road to the lodge would be the only challenge.

Heard they're everywhere up there in the winter, we should do a wolf cull I think!!

From On-Line Calculator.

http://www.albertafishingguide.com/resources/fish-weight-calculator

Trout Calculator
Length x Girth² ÷ 800
(length x girth x girth ÷ 800)
1. Enter the length in INCHES: 33.5
2. Enter the girth in INCHES: 18
3. Press to calculate the weight:
4. The fish weight in POUNDS: approx 13.5675
