How careful are you when handling raw furs?

I was curious how careful are you guys around raw furs?

I have a dog that loves being outside. I only set for coyotes and wolves and I do my skinning in my garage.

If the furs have zero signs of mange/distemper etc.. Should I be concerned about letting the family dog walk around me while I skin and flesh? Other than fleas I dont know how concerned I should be about it?

I let my dog around me all the time! Good company! I have had it with another dog that it got some mange but that was quickly remedied by the Vet.
