Is this your Blue Big Foot XL4000T ? Do you know who this belongs to, if so let him know ? I will also post this on Kijiji.

I was out this afternoon and found the tent off the foundation & dragged Big Foot back over your stuff, covered it up & tethered it back down to the pallets.

You need to go out and recover your gear before it disappears. If you can't get out here tomorrow morning ... send me a P.M. & I'll go back and rescue it for you.

Why would someone leave all their stuff out in a tent unattended?

Nail on the head. Perhaps this thread is better suited in the general section under the post about "first world problems". The title of the response should be something like " too much responsibility..... can't handle it so I will abandoned it"

Hopefully nothing bad happened to the owner.

There was 2 of these .... still locked! The bottom tent flap looked like it was secured/screwed to the pallet foundations & ripped off, for now all his gear is covered up, however, those locks won't help when the north wind howls!

I trust most or all of you would of done the same. No P.M.'s yet, I may go out tomorrow or on the weekend to check again.

It would of been so easy to help this fellow out .... if only he had his name & phone number on the out side of his tent, I also looked in that big box, lots of nice stuff, but no name or number.

Love the little locks. That will secure it for sure. I can't think the fella is too far away. Seems a little naive however. Hope it all turns out well.

Way to go Zip ! Use to be everyone would help their neighbour , not have them charged for littering due to simple oversight, and a little bit of wind. Locks are only for honest people and unfortunately there's not enough of them around either. I had a locked hut out a few years ago so my kids could stay out of the wind but someone broke into it ,only to steal five dollars worth of fishing line and hooks. The damage to the door cost me $25 for hinges and locks they busted. Since then I've left the hut out ,unlocked for three years ,and never had a problem.

Seems this person is almost trying to have their gear "go missing". I wouldn't take it myself, but I don't think I'd try to stop it or bother reporting it if I saw someone else helping themselves. I mean really -- unsecured gear left on a lake, with no identification on the tent or in the gear -- what does the owner expect might happen? A fool and their fishing gear are soon parted.

looks like he has a wooden floor made for inside his tent.. maybe should have made the wooden platform a little bigger and then could secure his tent to it. either way, silly to leave your tent out on the ice like that.. i wouldn't

Flip ups shouldn't be allowed left on the ice IMO. Just dumb.

Shacks or tents left on the ice should need to be registered. Name and contact info left on them.

Good on you Z-Z

With over a 1000 views, still no P.M.'s or e-mails from anyone on A/O or Kijiji .... this fellow will be in for a bit of a surprise when he shows up and see's the condition of his stuff.

Perhaps he had an emergency and had to leave quickly based on what was left behind, I'm hoping to get out there either later today or tomorrow to see if the owner was around.

Furthermore, it's disappointing reading some of the negative responses to my post, I can't believe other A/O members wouldn't help out a fellow fisher-man or woman. The positive responses are appreciated ... hat's off to you guy's!

Had to go to EDM yesterday, went out today and Big Foot is secured. I didn't see the owner around, but will stop by and have a chat when I see them & suggest he puts his name & phone number in the window. Someone also sent me a Kijiji reply yesterday, so perhaps that helped reunite them .... happy endings!

A lot of the posters feel that who ever owns the tent and gear is foolish or stupid for leaving it unattended on the ice. The only thing the tent owner is guilty of is not securing his tent good enough and maybe being a little naive.

I think the owner of the fishing outfit is maybe a good example of someone that still has faith in people and believes in good people. And he was right. A person watched over his gear and it remains intact.

A feel good kind of event. Kudos to Zip.

And who knows if the owner wasn't watching from a distance and making a documentary of the good nature of people.

Maybe a new kind of F&W decoy to catch ice fishing thieves.:sHa_sarcasticlol:

Likely someone will get their and lose their mind because they will think someone was using their tent.

Good job though zip, nice to see that people care.
