Went out one morning to Floatingstone lake since I was reading on iFishAlberta the summer fishing has been very good for pike and walleye with the closure. I went out to see what could be caught. Approaching a new body of water can be tough, but I studied the depth charts, tried by the iceshacks, and off some points with drop offs. Turns out I didn't have a fabulous morning, but it wasn't awful. Caught a walleye at first light a few pike and some micro perch. Not sure if there are many good sized perch in there. Good luck if you head out just remember there is a bait ban (maggots meal worms only) and a 0 keep limit for pike and walleye. Got a nice shot of a pike sitting on the bottom below my hole with a GoPro Hero.

A really healthy chunky eye.

Was out there this summer- it holds quite a bit of pike, which I had a blast top water fishing for.
Ended locating a nice hole with nonstop walleye action, had a hard time finding them. Going out that direction, ill be in a black Sierra if your around :) none dually.

Well have fun, I'm not currently in Alberta. So the fish are safe and sound without me there, haha!

For someone not in this province, you must be hitting a new record of posts for out of province. Good on you...doc

Well I'm in the province part time, fished all last week and now have time to make the videos. Was up there for 5 weeks and fished a lot of it. I'm lucky my wife even lets me fish that much :)

Nice fish, I gotta hit the ice out there cause it is my home lake(have a lot out there). They had tags for Floatingstone a couple of years ago.

Yeah no tags now, just strict CnR but that is ok, but to catch them and they seem to be growing into nice walleye. Maybe there will be some pigs in a few years.

my goodness. it's tough enough getting an appointment to see a doctor. i thought it was because they were out golfing. if you get a new generation of doctors hooked on fishing we will never get to see a doctor. lol
congrats on a great fishing holiday.

Hahaha! Doesn't seem like too many of them are interested in fishing. So you should be ok.

Yup it was a collapsed lake in the early eighties. I know a guy up there that grew up fishing the lake. Likes to brag about how him, his dad, & Uncle use to take 5 gallon pails full of perch and Walleye ice fishing when he was a kid. But can't understand why fishing is so poor now.

It is coming back and the Jack's are also getting bigger. If I don't get out on the ice out there soon it will be 2 seasons I missed. Maybe next weekend.
